re: #26 Targetpractice

When your candidate’s own campaign declares openly that it doesn’t care if its lying, just that it’s ads are having the desired effect, then fact-checking becomes like holy water to a vampire.

It should not shock you to learn that both campaigns know they’re lying in their campaign ads. It’s not a secret. Just like Budwiser doesn’t really think their product makes you more attractive to women. You aren’t supposed to believe everything someone puts in an advertisement. The candidates don’t believe their own campaign ads and neither should you. The fact checkers do a decent job and are a great resource for those who want to be well informed but they aren’t an antidote to lies in political ads. Both campaigns have been skewered by the fact checkers but they carry on anyways.
