Scene from one of my favorite books. Hero unloads a .45 into a demonic hell beast to no effect. “OK, now that you got that out of your sys-OUCH! KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF!” as the hero throws the gun and hits him in the eye.

Which, in turn, reminds me of a great MST3K voiced-over line from Earth vs. The Spider, as a group of soldiers rush by an officer to once again direct utterly ineffective rifle fire at the giant arachnid; [Barney Fife-ish voice] “We’re trying the gun thing again, Sir!”.
