Just saw the giant Monkey Ward building(s) while on an architecture tour of downtown Chicago. Frickin’ MASSIVE.

They were the Amazon of their day. Complete, it seems, with a messianic founder filled with steely determination to strip all basic dignity and humanity from his workers.
