It’s funny: as a teacher, I’ve heard colleagues bash No Child Left Behind, and there are some factors I wish were handled differently, but I noticed several pages deep in last night’s papers that American children’s reading and math scores have improved.

I didn’t hear anyone praising President Bush for that.

They’re still not as good as Europe’s, Japan’s…or Russia’s.
