re: #410 Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel
The NRA’s evaluation of the first commercial AR-15s, in about 1962, was quite negative. They thought it was gimmicky, absurdly over-priced ($279), and of little use to civilians.
$279 in 1962 is over $2,000 in today’s money. White trash rednecks couldn’t afford and embrace the AR back then as they can today. Now that that ARs are readily accessible to their white trash base, the NRA loves the rifle.
