Politico runs this story at 5:38PM (eastern?), hours after more information is available:

Now the whole story is written as an anti-Hillary polemic, and the whistle went out and the comments show the dregs of the internet.

My point is - Politico when it was created and in its own explanation of its purpose, was explicitly intended to generate controversy. Politico in this regards was just a notch more honest, or at least more revealing, as to why it was created. It was created to generate heat, not light.
