However, I will note that there is quite a bit of asymmetry when it comes to pooling labor and pooling other types of capital.

Namely, human agency. That is, human desires, wishes, foibles, feelings, etc.

The value of, say, robots is that they are free of such foibles. So a owner of a factory of robots is far, far better off than a union of 100 people who otherwise might have been employed in that endeavor.

It seems to me that in practice the labor movement of the first half of the 20th century is now going extinct. Whatever little influence labor unions have had remaining in the past decade or two will certainly be squashed in the Trump epoch.
