You assume the post office has anything to do with the economy these days. It no longer does.

I think that’s an assertion I’d have to see actual evidence for other than your say so.

I can think of several industries that would be severely hurt because they depend on bulk mail or on standardized pricing no matter where the material is being sent.

Print Media
Mail order companies
Ebay (some things are much less expensive to ship via USPS than UPS YMMV)
