They can still get more “things.” Livelihoods can be rebuilt, however painfully slow. Lives themselves cannot be replaced.

How does an 80 year old pensioner rebuild her livelihood? Can she work for a few more years to save up for another wedding photograph? Your posts speaks from the point of view of someone who has had very little time to actually build themselves a life.
