I know we’ve basically lost the judiciary for a generation, but on the other hand, my how important the 2018 election was.

The judiciary is not lost. Most of the appointments that Trump has made were replace Reagan appointees. The next president will likely mostly replace appointees by Clinton and GWB.

As for the Supreme Court, even that is not really lost. Thomas is 71, Alito is 69, and Roberts is 64. Throw in Ginsburg and Souter, and there’s a chance that the next president (if they serve two terms) could have 4 appointments.
