Well, my biggest issue with that radical anti-GMO movement is that there certainly are several very serious and valid concerns about what’s being done in some cases, since not surprisingly a lot of the work is very shortsighted. The problem is that it becomes really hard to discuss these things when you have a very loud group shouting semi-blindly about GMO stuff in general without regard to what is and isn’t worth worrying about.

A lot of it is based on faith, anecdotal evidence, and peer pressure. Nuance takes a great deal of effort as opposed to a blanket rejection. Instead of saying well there is room for genetically modified organisms because… all you have to say is GMOs are bad m’kay!
