If I were a GOP political consultant, my winning plan for a debate like this would be to have a “candidate” who made no actual public appearances. Instead, every rally or the like by the candidate would be a Wizard of Oz spectacle where the image projected on stage is literally a white-hot shrieking ball of rage.

I think that would be formidable, given the self-imposed primitive stupidity of the GOP base.
