With respect Render that’s not what Gates said. He is turning down, apparently the Marines request for a special amphibious landing vehicle that sounds peachy keen to this former grunt but he didn’t say no more Marine Corp.!
Although, when you refelect on it the single greatest, largest and most important aphmibious assauslt in military history by the US was done by the Army, not the Marines!

Iwo Jima was a very close second. And not to be forgotten!
