No school board is going to make a statement like that unless they want to get piled with lawsuits from here to eternity.

Here’s the thing.

Police failures. School board failures.

All of those will spawn lawsuits.

Guess who ultimately pays those lawsuit settlements and costs?

The very taxpayers and families who will see settlement money. Uvalde will hike taxes/fees to cover the costs for settlement. Insurance can cover some of those costs too. But ultimately, the settlements get funded out of what taxpayers bear.

We’ve seen that nationwide - like NYC has hundreds of millions in settlements with NYPD abuse cases a year, and that is a cost borne by NYC taxpayers - the NYPD and the police union don’t face those costs directly and personally.
