I know, and I’d personally go easy on descriptions of torture and the like at that age. A lot of kids might be OK with it, but I’m still disturbed by things I read about when I was considerably older than that. It shouldn’t be whitewashed precisely, but no loving descriptions of being slowly burned alive, just that people were cruelly and painfully maimed and killed or whatever.

Then you’d really want to skip Catholic gradeschool “Lives of the Saints”.
