I’m still getting fall-out from that Missouri flamethrower pigfest.

I can’t believe how many people seem to think the issue is THE BOOKS. “Thank God they didn’t actually burn any books!” I’ve been seeing variations on this for the last 2 days.

There’s nothing sacred about books. They’re not special objects that must never be harmed.

When fascists burn books, it’s NOT BECAUSE THEY HATE BOOKS. It’s because they hate the PEOPLE who read them. And when they tell you “there were no books in those boxes haha” it does not make it one bit better, even IF they’re telling the truth and not lying.

It’s a threat of violence. It’s not about the books.
