A reporter can very easily find someone who is expert in a field. I brought up the legal system to illustrate that locating true experts is something that is done regularly, by the courts, and a reporter can do the same thing.

“Sergey Romanov, who has studied the Holocaust in depth for 30 years and has had x number of papers published on the topic, is considered an expert on the topic and he says …. “.

So why should the reporter interview Sergey, and not David Irving, the holocaust denier who has studied the Holocaust in depth for 30 years and written books on it?

Or any number of the other deniers?
