The F-22 is air superiority; the F-35 is for ground attack. The F-22 keeps the fighters away from the F-35’s while they destroy targets on the ground.
Yes, I know. But the more important part of that equation is the air superiority dominance; if you have that, you have a certain amount of luxury as to your ground attack aircraft.
I think the cuts to F-22 procurement, and cuts to missile defense, are by far the two worst ideas in the current budget proposal.
