My bet is that he dies of natural causes sometime before they actually get to the point of conviction.

my guess is that if he is convicted, he’ll be imprisoned right through his appeals. he would be an enormous national security threat. the things that he has been exposed to and likely could regurgitate if necessary would be really useful to anyone willing to offer him safe harbor for the divulging.
