Indeed, but like her sister ship the IJN Musashi, they were taken out with carrier-based air power. The last of her class, the IJN Shinano, was converted to a carrier and sunk by four torpedoes from the USS Archerfish.
The Yamato-class were beautiful ships, but in the era of air power, sitting ducks.
