The structures and mechanics of that just aren’t there. Worst case could be a lot of chaos, perhaps with crime rising to the level of guerilla bands. We would settle into a situation like occupied France, but with no one to mount Operation Overlord. Then we all get to find out how brave we are.

I agree. The U.S. Army / reserves / national guard will not be used to invade and defeat states. No hard coups. But if Trump wins he doesn’t need a hard coup. He can use armed forces in quasi legal ways to “put down insurrection” and “defend the border.” He can slowly expand their duties. He won’t make the mistake of having anyone in leadership with principles again, so things will get worse and worse. A soft coup.

So yeah we will get to find out how brave we are.

I do tons of GOTV. I am not sitting around paralyzed with fear. But if Trump wins I believe things will get very bad faster than seems possible.
