Politics • Views: 11,427

Hi. Today we’re looking at the many ways in which corporations can do things that regular citizens definitely can’t, and how executives are rarely held accountable even when they break the law.

Delicate snowflake anti-vaxxer gets kicked off plane because he’s afraid of a passenger wearing a mask

‘Yellowstone’ Star Claims He Was Kicked Off Plane For Refusing To Sit Next To Masked Passenger. Anti-vax actor Forrie J. Smith took to Instagram to claim he was kicked off a flight because he didn’t ‘feel comfortable’ sitting next to someone who was wearing a mask, while admitting that he’d ‘been drinking.’

So exactly how does attacking teenagers benefit the Palestinian cause?

Bonus question, if the ethnic/national/religious groupings were different or absent, what’d it be called? 🤔

All Hat and No Cattle

Somebody suggested that if you ever are seated next to this jackass, wait until the plane pulls back from the gate, say to him, “ooops, almost forgot this” and pull out and put on your mask.

The really fun part of that is that if he’s being a big enough jackass, they will divert the flight to get him off the plane, which will cost him a boatload of money because airlines really frown on passengers disrupting their flight operations (and the FAA isn’t exactly a fan, either).

And he could lose his TSA precheck and get banned from that particular airline.

But, at least he stuck to his principles….. *rolling my eyes*

Didn’t someone point out downstairs that it may not technically be a violation? Of course, when seeking a court order against Trump, you have to be very careful in who and what is covered because he will attack anyone or anything that is not explicitly mentioned by the order. The judge’s daughter is not covered by the order.

There’s no security problem. The Secret Service can post a guard in a prison, just the same as anywhere else. Or they can lock him up somewhere else. It’s logistically more difficult than a random man off the street, but not impossible by any stretch.

Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2, which is now in theaters, boasts a bigger budget, higher production values, and an entirely new cast. Alas, when it comes to the things that matter most—like writing, directing, and acting—it’s as chintzy and inept as its predecessor. Jeff Clark’s disbarment hearing in DC ended a short time ago. He took the 5th on numerous occasions, with Clark claiming that the lead investigator was purposefully getting Clark to take the 5th.

Umm… that you had to take the 5th a single fucking time shows you’re lack of character and fitness to practice law and that you need to be prosecuted for your conduct during the WH stint.

Clark’s decision to invoke his constitutional right against self-incrimination underscores the criminal jeopardy he faces in other ongoing legal proceedings. In Atlanta, he’s charged alongside Trump in an alleged racketeering conspiracy to corrupt the 2020 election, and in Washington, D.C., federal prosecutors identified him — but have not charged him — as one of Trump’s alleged co-conspirators in a scheme to seize power.

He’s probably concerned that he might face still more criminal charges in other jurisdictions for his conduct.

Kari Lake is gonna be going through some things. She and her legal team pulled a Trump and decided to let the trial of her defaming state election officials go to the judgment phase - how much money she’s going to owe.

Richer alleged in a lawsuit filed last year that Lake, her campaign and the group repeatedly and falsely accused him of causing Lake to lose the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election, unleashing a barrage of threats against him and his family. Richer’s complaint sought to hold Lake and her allies accountable for her claims that Richer had “sabotaged the election to prevent Republican candidates, including Lake, from winning.”

Lake requested the judge set what is known as a default judgment hearing, which would essentially bypass the legal process for her to defend her comments. She instead wants the court to hold a hearing to determine whether damages are owed to Richer and, if so, the amount.

Here’s hoping that Richer gets a rich sum plus costs/fees for Lake’s defamatory conduct.

I know it’s a high bar, but is there anymore more void of shame than Nancy Mace?

Out of $1.7 trillion, only 7,800 bridge repairs and 135,800 miles of road improvements? With 600,000 bridges and 4.09 million miles of road in the US, where’s the rest of the money gone?

The Green New Steal

.

So the MAGATard believes that 600,000 bridges and 4 million miles of roads need to be repaired and/or replaced? What a fucking dolt.

tennessean.com

Well, TIL that the Bible (or at least a particular version of it) can indeed, be copyrighted. I guess the “Kingdom of God” is one thing, and the “Public Domain” quite another.

So it’s not even an original Trump scam: he just took over another (unsuccessful) marketing ploy. Typical….

From experience, the stew that makes this type of asshole is that the kid is given license to be awful within accepted parameters…they can punch down as hard as they want and be shielded by the privileges of class in general but also the aegis of their parents specifically…but periodically they’re brutalized by their parents to teach them a hard lesson about what it means to be under someone else.

What’s learned is that the general societal rules aren’t important—why not be cruel if you can get away with it?—and the only important thing is to not get caught by someone with enough power to make it stick. What is best in life is rapacity checked only by a calculation of who you have to fawn over; what you have to offer others is the umbrella of your license…they can have a bit of your unaccountability for a price.

And this is what my idiotic rep is spending his time on:

facebook.com

For background, one of the few sane posters on his facebook explains:

myrtlebeachonline.com
Here is the (one) article that Congressman Fry references in his notes to the letter. There doesn’t seem to be any hard evidence that what he alleges is actually happening. Just some grainy photos taken by a “friend” of a man named Bill Tavui who posted those photos on social media and speculated that the people on the tour bus were illegal immigrants. The journalist did some research on it and by my understanding, having read the article, found nothing to substantiate that notion.

But, but—his idiot fans say:

there are certainly a lot of non English speaking people showing up on our beach.

(well, that certainly proves…something)

i’ve heard through the grapevine that there are a few hotels on Ocean Boulevard that are infested with them.

(INFESTED—where have we heard that terminology before?)

Yup they’re here

(all the proof I need—that and two blurry photos of a bus—CASE CLOSED)

So sad to live among them…

Yes, that NEW Nirvana band from … 35 years ago.

Hey, everyone, gather ‘round! An old man is about to talk!

Back in the ancient year of 1997 or so, a Philly radio station which played contemporary rock of the era (WDRE for those of you from the area) held a music fest at the Camden ampitheater across the Delaware. I think it was the Tweeter Center at the time. This thing has literally had like 15 name changes over the last 35 years or whatever…

Any rate, one of the bands was Cheap Trick. The person the station sent to interview them pre-show had no idea who there were and at some point, asked them about being a new band. As a group that had 25+ years under the belt at the point, it grated them a bit.

When they finally hit the state, they constantly mentioned how they were a new band between practically every song. We had no idea what they were on about until someone after the show explained to us.

And who was that hapless radio station employee?

You guessed it: Frank Stallone.

Mattand  Mar 27, 2024 • 2:48:37pm

re: #119 Mattand

Also:

Apparently Cheap Trick spend some time in Philly in the late 60’s. One or some of the band members had an apartment by the adult theater near 23rd and Market.

Oh well; Philly’s loss, Rockford, IL’s gain.

There’s no security problem. The Secret Service can post a guard in a prison, just the same as anywhere else. Or they can lock him up somewhere else. It’s logistically more difficult than a random man off the street, but not impossible by any stretch.

they’ll put him in a supermax. The irony is that because of his status, when he’s convicted in the classified documents case, he won’t be doing time down at club fed. He’ll be in isolation at Leavenworth until he dies.
