Hell, these days it can be smart to lawyer up before calling the cops, especially with computer crimes (which can involve some murky legal waters).

So far as I’ve been able to glean from the net, Twitter hacking is FBI territory. Nothing I’ve read so far seems to indicate that the local cops would have any jurisdiction. And considering the number of articles popping up on even a cursory search for “Twitter hacked,” I’d say they’ve probably got a nice backlog going of such claims.
