The flag’s been flying today above our logo, and I hope everyone is having a great Memorial Day; remember to give a thought for the soldiers who sacrificed everything for America, because this is their holiday.

And now, fried chicken, haricot verts with mushrooms, collard greens, and mashed potatoes and stuffing with fresh chicken gravy.

And oh yeah ... fresh cranberry sauce with some kind of delicious stuff floating in it.

I grilled up some burgers and Hebrew National dogs to go with some Bush's baked beans and Lay's Tangy Carolina BBQ chips...damn tasty, if I do say so myself.

/it's good to be full...even as I am trying to shed a few more pound over the next few weeks

We were driving up the 405 near the military cemetery, just in time for an overflight of 2 F-18's. That was inspiring. Saw these guys too just like every Memorial day. Some great vintage sound and music plays when you open the page.

Turnip greens with salt and vinegar and some pintos in sauce on fresh cornbread with a dot/dash slather of hot sauce of choice on some choice corn on the cob.

Our Remembrance Day is November 11, the day the War to End All Wars ended.

Too cold for barbecuing that time of year. I always attend a memorial of some description though.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We've got the Navy and Marine Corps out here celebrating Fleet Week, and here's hoping that they were able to enjoy their Liberty and from what I saw in the City yesterday, NYers treated 'em splendidly (and the weather didn't hurt either).

I've been out and about the last few days, but if you are in the Hudson Valley, I'd urge you to check out the Storm King Art Center (you can see some of the larger sculptural pieces from the Thruway, which runs adjacent to part of the 500 acre campus. It's definitely worth it if you're a fan of sculpture or hiking.

Oh, and if Broadway is your thing - Avenue Q. Go see it. Funny like you wouldn't believe - and it has puppets with heart (and naked muppets to boot). If you've ever strugged with finding your purpose in life, you'd relate.

Memorial Day brought to mind the memory of my paternal uncles. When the US went to war in WWII my father and 6 of his brothers all volunteered (one too young and lied about his age to get into the USMC). All came back alive, though all were changed (with some bad side effects - war does that.) They're all gone now, but as a group of first born Americans (their parents were immigrants) they did their duty and served honorably. Worth remembering.

I took my youngest, my daughter, and her BFF out to lunch after we went to my veteran grandfather's grave, and I can never eat a lot after a meal I eat out.

Here in central California it is strangely windy and cold. I spent the day being a Field Marshall (!!) at the kids' "World Cup" soccer tournament, sitting out in the lashing wind. Couldn't even set my coffee cup down on the table or it would have blown over. Our team got slaughtered but my youngest daughter won TWO purple ribbons for good sportsmanship. Which is what counts, after all.

So now I'm cooking risotto with shrimp, spinach, saffron, cilantro, and goat cheese. Indoors. For the coach and her family.

Hey fellow lizards, happy Memorial Day. Got some good news and bad news out of NASA.

Bad news is we're not going back to the Moon, at least not in the near term.

Good news is that we're going to be making manned landings on asteroids and eventually a manned mission to Mars.

Better news is that we're going to be investing in private sector spacecraft to make possible American missions to the ISS, which might finally achieve the dream of economical space travel for the rest of us.

In Your Honor

Unselfishly, you left your fathers and your mothers, You left behind your sisters and your brothers.
Leaving your beloved children and wives, You put on hold, your dreams—your lives.

On foreign soil, you found yourself planted To fight for those whose freedom you granted.
Without your sacrifice, their cause would be lost But you carried onward, no matter the cost.

Many horrors you had endured and seen. Many faces had haunted your dreams.
You cheered as your enemies littered the ground; You cried as your brothers fell all around.

When it was over, you all came back home, Some were left with memories to face all alone;
Some found themselves in the company of friends As their crosses cast shadows across the land.

Those who survived were forever scarred Emotionally, physically, permanently marred.
Those who did not now sleep eternally ‘Neath the ground they had given their lives to keep free.

With a hand upon my heart, I feel The pride and respect; my reverence is revealed
In the tears that now stream down my upturned face As our flag waves above you, in her glory and grace.
Freedom was the gift that you unselfishly gave Pain and death was the price that you ultimately paid.
Every day, I give my utmost admiration To those who had fought to defend our nation.

Talked to my FIL tonight about his Bronze Star that he earned in Korea in 1953. His humility wouldn't permit him to tell me what happened. But my wife made him pull out a news story of coverage of what he did. I swear, it read like something from Cracked.com's "Five Soldiers Who Made Rambo Look Like a Pu**y" article.

The newspaper account said, my father-in-law's battalion was pinned down and they couldn't get the wounded to medical attention. They asked for a volunteer to provide cover fire for the bazooka guy to take out a tank to clear a path.

My FIL volunteered. So they go running across an open are under fire. The bazooka guy was killed. FIL picks up the fucking bazooka and runs head on into the assault anyway. Gets 25 yards from the tank and blows it up.

Saved many lives that day.

I clicked on the little triangle the other night for the first time in a long time (and put up a quick link to an editorial.)

It does seem redundant with the Page capability. Yet it would still be nice to simply put up links to other sites' entries without confusing that with a 'real' Page. I get that the social media venues are for doing that sort of quickie "look here folks" routine, but it would be nice to have a handy index of relevant links available at a push of a button.

It seems that our long-term goal is to slowly allow the private sector to make available the spacecraft necessary for low-Earth orbit and, eventually, lunar exploration. NASA's being tasked with taking us to the next milestone, the final goal being to get us to Mars.

The tl;dr of the story is that one of the 200 or so people weiner follows on twitter is a young women from the pacific northwest. She's been harassed periodically by a Mr. Wolfe (@Patriotusa76) for several weeks. A tweet supposedly by Weiner containing a link to his yfrog account purporting to show his (covered) erect penis got posted, and then very quickly pulled, so fast in fact that the young woman it was directed at didn't even see it before it was pulled. Mr. Wolfe then claimed to have pulled the image out of his cache and handed it over to biggovernmnet.com.

DKos has a diary up claiming that the metadata associated with the pictures mr. Wolfe produced doesn't actually match the metadata from yfrog. You could get the link to the diary from the spinoff links function btw.

I think the first clear story we're going to hear about this is when Rep. Weiner files suit.

Virgin Galactic's preparing the VSS Enterprise for commercial service beginning this year, with the VSS Voyager already in the works. If these prove successful, their next venture is point-to-point travel via the SpaceShipThree class, which would mean two-hour trips from London to Sydney.

Meanwhile, SpaceX's Falcon 9 booster and Dragon capsule are being funded by NASA to provide first cargo service to the ISS, then eventually crew transfer. Said capsule is also designed to be capable of surviving return trips from the Moon and even Mars.

Not far off. Apparently they finally woke up to the reality that designing an entirely new booster was a waste of time and resources, when they had perfectly good tech from the Shuttle program just lying there. They're supposed to be working on a new heavy booster, reusing a lot of said tech.

The moon would be a natural stepping stone on the way. Why launch from earth when you can have a low gravity base and staging area?

Why have any gravity whatsoever?

I'm no expert by any means, but it'd seem that a space station would be superior in every way, especially since, as less massive than the moon, it'd attract fewer meteorites.

Gravity is good for long term living, retaining bone and muscle mass. The ability to dig into the moon is good for dealing with ionizing radiation / solar flares. It would also be much easier to build a space elevator on the moon, providing a stepping stone for building such a project on earth. Somebody else already mentioned the Helium 3.

re: #57 Obdicut
I look at it like this.
The moon has a critical force a station would have to manufacture. Gravity. Essential to humans and helpful in many manufacturing technologies.

For a station you have to bring every gram of every kind of mass to it. Structure & shielding are two things lunar soil can provide at least in large part. The moon may not be so barren after all. That's resources that do not have to be flown there. I would expect low gravity lunar bases to precede even geosynch (let alone L3) bases or colonies just in the more efficient technical progression.

I think the helium 3 is so widely dispersed that there's no realistic way of harvesting it. There's lots of gold in seawater, too; there's no way of getting it out of seawater. Again, I'm not an expert, if I"m wrong I'd be happy to be shown so.

The ability to dig into the moon is good for dealing with ionizing radiation / solar flares.

That is the best answer I've yet heard.

Gravity is good for long term living, retaining bone and muscle mass.

I don't think the moon has enough gravity to make a significant difference, and space stations can be spun to give them apparent gravity without making them harder to launch from-- in fact, it makes them easier.

It would also be much easier to build a space elevator on the moon, providing a stepping stone for building such a project on earth.

That's far beyond my technological know-how.

re: #59 goddamnedfrank

Gravity is good for long term living, retaining bone and muscle mass. The ability to dig into the moon is good for dealing with ionizing radiation / solar flares. It would also be much easier to build a space elevator on the moon, providing a stepping stone for building such a project on earth. Somebody else already mentioned the Helium 3.

He3 mining would actually be part of the overall effort to mine the Moon for various minerals and materials useful here on Earth. That's actually a big part reason in favor of lunar colonization over space stations, as the materials we'd need for habitat construction are pretty much already there. It's just a matter of finding the necessary processes to get at them and getting a colony past the point where it can be self-sustaining.

As for moving materials back to Earth, the first few years would involve utilizing cargo craft of varying size and complexity, but eventually could be replaced by a mass driver that could shoot the materials or finished products from the lunar surface to Earth orbit.

Thank you also to the Canadian physician, Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, who left us a beautiful poem about remembrance of the fallen:

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

In addition to the contribution of the Canadians to WWII, I will not forget how the Canadian Embassy in Iran hid many Americans when our embassy personnel were taken hostage by the Iranians. You saved their lives.

back in the Big One, the Canadians were mauled at Dieppe and never complained, then their tankers were pounded taking Cherbourg and I mean pounded...they never choked, they never backed up, they just hammered away until the Germans fled into the Falaise Gap, and all under the ultimate command of US Allied commanders....they were stout and unforgiving fighters and our GI's loved them....all hail to the fallen

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day today. My friends and I watched Master and Commander tonight. What a great reminder of how cool that film is on so many levels. And seems appropriate for the day. As others have said, please remember those who've sacrificed their lives for our freedom. And not all sacrifices were through death during war. My uncle, who flew bombing missions over Poland and Czechoslovakia and was shot down behind enemy lines and it took him two weeks to get back to his unit, had nightmares nearly every night for decades after the war. Our warriors can be wounded in more than one way. Remember and honor their service and sacrifice.

So far as I've been able to glean from the net, Twitter hacking is FBI territory. Nothing I've read so far seems to indicate that the local cops would have any jurisdiction. And considering the number of articles popping up on even a cursory search for "Twitter hacked," I'd say they've probably got a nice backlog going of such claims.

That's just it, there's been no indication so far that Weiner hasn't given the FBI a ring on the matter. So far, the only "proof" that he hasn't done so is that A) he hasn't announced doing so and B) "patriot76" says the cops haven't come to bother him yet.

I guess I should add we're dealing with reduced capabilities here, which doesn't necessarily apply to end-of-life care.

But yeah, I knew a severely disabled, incontinent, wheelchair bound guy at work. He coudln't talk, and had terrible seizures, but what little he could communicate was often happiness.

Its one of the things that you have to do if you want to survive in the job really.

Otherwise you don't last a week.

At risk of being terribly cliche', I've learned a LOT from the ~50 clients I've had since I started working healthcare.

The other thing (on a slight aside) is in general if people really don't want to live, they usually don't. And I don't mean suicide, I mean people that just... give up.

As he was a concern for the dogs, my husband gently moved him to path that would take him closer to a new pond.

And Obama is putting the boot to those who would support Iran:

[Link: www.courthousenews.com...]

President Obama has issued an Executive Order authorizing the Secretary of the Treasury to impose sanctions under the Iran Sanctions Act against foreign individuals or entities that invest in the Iranian energy sector.
United States firms and individuals are prevented from investing in the Iranian energy sector under an executive order issued by former President Bill Clinton in 1996 after Iran opened its energy sector to foreign investment through a "buy-back" program, which gives investors a return on their capital without granting them any equity.
According to a 2009 report from the Congressional Research Service, up to that point no firm or individual had ever been sanctioned under the act.
President Obama's order allows the Secretary of the Treasury to prohibit U.S. financial institutions from making loans or providing credits to, or performing foreign exchange transactions for, firms investing in Iran's energy sector.
In addition, Treasury is authorized to block all assets of such firms or individuals that come into the jurisdiction of the United States.

The above bolded part sucks. I would be astonished if there were no US corporations that had done back-door investments in Iran. I hope they really hold anyone caught doing so to account.

He got a great deal on them though. The people were asking $150.00, he got the set for $30.00.

Any literature geeks here?

One of the other blogs I hang out at, people are insisting that Longfellow's "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" is an allegorical call to arms for abolitionists.

I'd never heard that before. So... was this an obvious thing and my education was faulty? Or is it a non-traditional interpretation?

Dunno. Longfellow made Paul Revere into a pop star with the poem. But the real ride was made by Israel Bissell.

According to "Assume the Position" with Mr. Wuhl, Israel Bissell sounded like a Jewish Vacuum Cleaner salesperson and wasn't possible to rhyme properly...

Well, Revere deserves to be honored because he'd built up a huge network of contacts. By the time it came to actually ride, it didn't matter who was doing it. But it was because of the groundwork that Revere had done-- he was, apparently, the original networker-- that the ride was successful.

You might be thinking of this:

[Link: www.ushistory.org...]

You are probably referring to Sybil Ludington, who did not ride with Paul Revere in 1775. On 26 April 1777, Sybil, the 16 year old daughter of Patriot Colonel Henry Ludington, and her family in Fredericksburg, NY, were warned of an impending British attack at Danbury, CT (across the state line). Danbury was a supply depot for the Americans with approximately 200 or less Continental troops on guard. Col. Ludington was in charge of a militia unit. The militia unit was scattered about the area/surrounding community. Sybil mounted her horse and took a 40 mile ride throughout the countryside that late night, waking militia members as she went. The men were not able to save Danbury, however, eventually the troops were able to push the British back to their ships at Long Island, New York.

Hello Lizards,

Am a bit late for this, but I just wanted to pay tribute to my Maternal Grandfather, Robert Hendrickson, on this (day after) Memorial Day thread. Born in 1900, he lied about his age and volunteered to fight on the Italian Front in 1915! After being transfered to the Western Front in 1918, he was gasses and had his thigh pock-marked with shrapnel, for which he spent months in Hospital recovering.

I've been told by those know knew him, that I closely resemble him in habits and interests. Sadly, he died 6 years before I was born, so I never got to know him nor his great love of history (he had 1000's of books), antiques (he ran a landmark Greenwich Village shop for over 30 years), and politics (he was a traditional Northeast Republican with a highly individualistic streak). While I can't bring him back, this picture below from the classic 1949 "Greenwich Village: Today a& Yesterday" taken by Bernice Abbott will have to suffice.

A proud WWI Veteran and the Grandfather I never knew....

Here's to all of our Veterans, on this (belated) Memorial Day.

re: #59 goddamnedfrank

Gravity is good for long term living, retaining bone and muscle mass. The ability to dig into the moon is good for dealing with ionizing radiation / solar flares. It would also be much easier to build a space elevator on the moon, providing a stepping stone for building such a project on earth. Somebody else already mentioned the Helium 3.

You can spin a space station. If it's too small for that, you can spin a two-mass system where the other mass is just a counterweight of some sort. Any fair-size space station would be massive enough to include a central "keep" that could hold its crew in an emergency.

What the moon is really good for is as a source of reaction mass. Set up a mass driver on the moon and fling packets of moon-dust into trajectories that can be captured at L5, and you've got your shielding material, for instance. You've also got reaction mass to burn. Throw some of that dust away, at a sufficiently high velocity, and you've changed your trajectory. Grind it small enough and it's harmless even if a fleck of it hits another space station or comes back around and hits the old one.

There's a goodly quantity of aluminum in moon dust. With solar furnaces in space, that could be extracted and then used for enlarging the space station. The whole idea is that once you've got a mass driver on the moon, (or on any sizable asteroid that can be parked in earth orbit), you don't have to lift near as much stuff from the earth. Crews, and key high-precision components, would be all that would be needed.

re: #286 Fat Bastard Vegetarian

I'm guessing he wasn't robbed very often.

Don't laugh, but until he was robbed in 1952 (3 years after this photo was taken) he had no rolling gates or alarms! That's how safe the Village used to be. After the robbery, he had his first heart attack, and when he returned to the business, downsized it by selling off all of his guns.

Family lore states that when a thief tried to gain access through a back window, my Grandfather set up a Bear Trap right under the window, which would have decapitated any future robber's limb! Only after it had been set up for a month, did my Grandmother talk him out of taking such measures.

Yeah, he came from a different place and time than the rest of us. An individual until the end. My God rest his agnostic soul. :-)

Heh, for all his efforts, my Aunt eloped at 18! My Mom waited until she was 24 to escape to the Sorbonne, far away from Dad's blades of fury. They both loved him dearly though.

By the way, I can't remember what the serrated knife actually was used for, but I recall a good story behind it. Will have to ask my Aunt for details. Also, he never brought his blades home, but had a .38 strapped to him at all times, so that would have been quite threatening enough. (Interestingly enough, for a proud member of the NRA and big hater of the NYS Sullivan Laws, he never taught anybody in his family how to use a gun.)

Late winter, 1977. Great Lakes, Illinois, Naval Training Center.

Yr. humble servant: fresh from flunking out of college, more than a little scared of just what I had gotten myself into.

One evening, maybe three or four weeks into the training, about 20 or so of us recruits, taking a smoke break in the shower room. Started talking about music. This being the 70's, of course the topic eventually got around to American Pie.

Someone started singing it, and a few others joined in, and eventually everyone else, and we sang the whole damn song right there and then.

American Pie has always been one of my favorite songs, and more than a little bit of the reason was that night in Great Lakes.

It's hard to tell. It might be a particularly ugly year but it might just be Drudge listing all the incidents together. If you scroll through Stormfront or CCoC on any given day you'd get the impression that blacks and Hispanics are rampaging through the streets killing random people. There might be something going on but I wouldn't make too much of Drudge's collection of headlines.

Fareed Zakaria's take: Bibi doesn't want a peace deal.

My take: The Palestinians don't want to accept Israel's right to exist, making any deal proffered by the Israelis for naught (see prior deals offered by Israel to Abbas and Arafat). If Israel truly had a partner in peace, there'd be a peace deal in reach, but the Palestinians don't want to give up the ghost of right of return, demanding Israel relinquish control over the Old City and accept borders that put Israel in an indefensible position.

The Palestinians haven't fulfilled their obligations under Oslo, but want Israel to keep making concessions - negotiating with itself. Where is the Palestinian plan for peace under a 2-state solution? There is none.

Palestinian, Egyptian leaders discuss peace

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Egypt's military rulers have discussed Middle East peace efforts.

The official Middle East News Agency said Monday that Abbas thanked Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, head of Egypt's ruling Supreme Military Council, for Egypt's support of the Palestinians.

MENA said the Palestinians confirmed their readiness to restart peace negotiations with Israel based on U.S. President Barack Obama's May 19 speech stating Israel's pre-1967 lines as a starting point for new borders.

Muslim girl, 19, 'stoned to death after taking part in beauty contest'

A teenage Muslim girl was stoned to death under 'Sharia law' after taking part in a beauty contest in Ukraine.

Katya Koren, 19, was found dead in a village in the Crimea region near her home.

Friends said she liked wearing fashionable clothes and had come seventh in a beauty contest.

Her battered body was buried in a forest and was found a week after she disappeared.

Police have opened a murder investigation and are looking into claims that three Muslim youths killed her, claiming her death was justified under Islam.

One of the three - named as 16-year-old Bihal Gaziev - is under arrest and told police that Katya had 'violated the laws of Sharia'. Gaziev has said he has no regrets about her death.

Horrible.

Pre-1967 means 1948 lines. But considering that the Palestinians consider it the nabqa (disaster) for Israel's very creation, they see Israel as an anathema - and the terror groups (which are now part of the Palestinian Authority) don't recognize Israel's right to exist.

That is something that the diplomats would love to paper over, but which can't be overcome no matter how much those same diplomats would love to get their own Nobel Prizes.

3 Palestinian gunmen killed in mysterious blast in Gaza

Three Palestinian gunmen were killed on Tuesday in a mysterious explosion in a military training base near Rafah in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian security sources in Gaza said.

The sources said that the explosion occurred inside a training base belonging to the armed wing of the Popular Resistance Committees, an alliance of armed groups in the Gaza Strip.

The three men were identified as Mahmoud al-Arqan, Ramzi Abu Harb and Yunsi Abu Naja.

Local journalists said that several other people were wounded in the blast, which also caused huge damage. Hamas policemen sealed off the area and launched an nvestigation into the circumstances of the explosion, they said.

Cyber Combat: Act of War

The Pentagon has concluded that computer sabotage coming from another country can constitute an act of war, a finding that for the first time opens the door for the U.S. to respond using traditional military force.

The Pentagon's first formal cyber strategy, unclassified portions of which are expected to become public next month, represents an early attempt to grapple with a changing world in which a hacker could pose as significant a threat to U.S. nuclear reactors, subways or pipelines as a hostile country's military.

In part, the Pentagon intends its plan as a warning to potential adversaries of the consequences of attacking the U.S. in this way. "If you shut down our power grid, maybe we will put a missile down one of your smokestacks," said a military official.

Heh.

Promised donor aid not arriving: Palestinian PM

Speaking at a press conference with Japan's representative to the Palestinian Authority, Fayyad said the slow delivery of promised aid was putting pressure on the government.

"The financial crisis continues until now, to varying degrees, and has continued alongside the work of the Palestinian Authority since mid-2010," Fayyad warned, saying the government was facing a serious shortfall.

"We need to see an acceleration in the receipt of aid that has been committed," he added, stressing that the Palestinians "are not asking for anything more than what we need."

"In 2011, we have been receiving $52.5 million dollars a month from the Arab countries, which is much less than the amount they committed to deliver," he said.

The Palestinian Authority is largely reliant on foreign donors to make up its yearly budget. It also receives tax and tariff revenue that is collected by Israel and delivered periodically.

Maybe if they sold or created something other than bombs, rockets, suicide vests, and hate they wouldn't have to rely mostly on money from other counties.

Maybe if the PA and Hamas prioritized peace over armed conflict and anti-Semitism, they could build a functioning economy. They are sitting in the same geographic area as Israel, with the benefit of allegedly friendly neighbors, yet they cannot generate sufficient GDP to support their bloated bureaucracy. SIlly, and sad.

There is no accountability. The leaders are just shoveling all that money into their own personal offshore accounts, a la Arafat. BTW whatever happened to all the billions that Arafat looted? Suha's shoe closet and bling box?

Nobody is interested in a viable Palestinian state. One side is interested only in harming Israel, the in preventing such harm. Nobody gives a good goddamn about the Palestinian people, when it cones right down to it.

In the movie Full Metal Jacket, the drill sargeant said in effect "God loves marines because marines keep heaven full of fresh bodies" I think the professional politicians like the dim witted one (Palin), because she makes the pols all look smarter. I dunno, when I was riding today it seemed like a good thing to post, I'm quite witty when there isn't a keyboard around.

Where's Arafat's Money (Time magazine)

I will repeat the quote from my nephew: "The Arabs are willing to fight the Israelis down to the last Palestinian."

My take: I think the Palestinian long-range planning has moved to a one-state resolution, which gives them a continued incentive not to allow anything to work.

Palestinian, Egyptian leaders discuss peace

Pre-1967 borders as a starting point for peace? I wonder where they got a silly idea like that?

Probably from George Bush, except he used '1949 armistice lines' instead.

To be more serious, the Palestinians hated that speech, and are boiling with indignation at Obama. This is merely an attempt to refocus.

The Palestinians hate everything and everyone except death. Now there is something they can support.

They're demanding money from Japan? Hey dumbasses, did you hear about the tsunami?

Japan gives a fortune in foreign aid.

At this point the one-state "solution" seems as if it would be far more attractive to the Palestinians, yes.

...Und Mann findet Alles so Banal.

Feeling more than a bit nostalgic today, so, Ute Lemper Sings:

Allein in Einer Grossen Stadt and Lili Marleen, two standards from my misspent youth:

Eh, what the hell, let's give the folks what they want:

Ute Lemper sings La Vie en Rose:

Any woman who sings that song OWNS the man to whom she sings it.
