It may be that the one thing that Putin has going for him is that he has made damn sure that there is no alternative to him; remove Putin and what you have left is utter chaos.

If Putin were to be removed right now, by death natural or unnatural, Russia would likely implode into chaos as the various factions all make a mad dash for power.

Yeah, it’d get messy really quick.
