re: #136 freetoken
Well, I’m of the school of thought that drives me to intentionally put my family tree online.
I want to be found (he wrote, having used a pseudonym here for 12 years…)
And, since I have greater confidence in my own research than a lot of what I find online, the presence of my tree online helps correct possible errors for others.
I have sent messages to folks with errors in their online trees - most ignore you but the ones who have replied usually tell me they “don’t care”. I did have one person remove the errors. My favorite was a tree where my ggggg grandfather married his 8 year old niece - had 14 children with her during which she bigamously married her correct husband.
Maybe I’ve been lucky but have have back to the 1600s without needing dna & no great need to go back further. I’ve met with up to 5th cousins - sometimes found via google.
