If you are around or happen to come back to read the thread…I saw you mentioning hooking up a new ‘fridge.

It might be too late, or you may have already done it, but did you install an inline charcoal water filter on the line to your ice maker? They make them, usually they look like a big tube with small outlets on both ends. Usually about 1.75” round and 10” or so long. They have the compression fittings on them already to take the 1/4” copper feed line.

They really help out. They make clear cleaner ice. And the big benefit, they keep the salts and other sediment out of the small plumbing and mechanical parts of the ice maker. I swap mine out about every two years or so, and my ice maker has been faultless for close to 20 years.

And that reminds me, I do need to be getting a newer one for better energy use. So, whatever happens to the one I have, it still has a great ice maker.

Just something to consider.
