This guy’s foreign policy is all over the place.

Actually, it’s amazingly consistent. Like his idol Carter, given the choice between a popular movement that is even neutral toward us, and a dictator (active or would-be) who hates us, he’ll side with the caudillo’ wannabee every time. He regards their anti-Americanism as proof of their enlightenment, I suspect mainly because all the “good, sensitive, right-thinking” people in his social circle have always held similar views. In short, such people are right in the middle of his “comfort zone”, where he and they can bask in the warm glow of their self-perceived “higher consciousness”.

/Wait ‘til he finds out that his foreign “fellow savants” think he’s just an easily-conned infant.
