There have always been rightwing racist crazies in Canada. Until recently, it was possible to shove them under the carpet while wagging fingers at the United States for its racist crazies.

Except now, after the “trucker” “protests” and Western provincial politics (like open racism and bigotry and anti-vax loopiness) it’s gotten obvious that there is indeed a problem here that needs to be addressed.
