Frankly the big elephant in the room is Reagan. And I get how denouncing Reagan’s arguably poisonous influence on the GOP long term may as well be being critical of FDR in Democratic circles but there isn’t anything like the centrist movement that emerged within the Dems that started to realize that what worked for FDR wasn’t going to work in the 1990’s and in the 20th century. Every type of Republican in some way sees their movement as the heirs of Ronnie in some way. No one has the balls to admit that it’s a different era and that maybe Ronnie wasn’t all that anyhow.
