My wife-woman and I were chatting over breakfast just this morn. She is the payroll department for a local food manufacturer, her office is located in the hall where the workers enter the building and lots of them stop and speak on their way to work.

One of her buddies is a young black fellow of 25. He stops most every day to flirt and talk sports. Yesterday, after stopping to pick up his paycheck, he began to vent a little.

‘What is this damned President of ours doing to us?’ he asked. ‘How come every month now I have a little less money in the bank? Why isn’t my stimulus money more than this little old tiny dribble? How come gasoline is going up again? Why do my groceries cost more every week? How come my Newports cost $6 a pack? What the hell good is it doing me to have a black President?”

Kinda early to hear stuff like this, I would have thought.
