That’s not a fix. That’s a Ford Pinto II, waiting to happen without a collision.
The fix, such as it is, is a Rube Goldberg attempt to distract from the inability to replace the core component that breaks so readily that it causes fires.
I think it is more of a mitigation so it doesn’t catch fire before you can get the part replaced. Since it is cutting engine power I doubt it is meant to be operated in that manner, it is the equivalrnt of a donut spare tire. It is just meant to get you to the nearest service station.
