When you talk about “the past” you’re not saying that Mohammad was once a liberal nor that Islam has a liberal past. You’re just claiming that OTHER religions were bad once too.

Well, I think other religions are also bad now, but yeah.

So it’s not an argument about the past at all, it’s a claim that if Christianity can improve and Judaism can improve then Islam can improve too.

You keep referring to “Islam” as though it’s a monolithic block, and it’s really weird. What I’m taking issue with, as I’ve said, is your contention that Islam is the worst major religion and that this badness comes from the text of the Qu’ran and the character of Mohammed. The present state of radical Islam is one of your proofs of this contention— my pointing out the past is part of my disproof of that. It’s this disproof you never address.

It is not about “the past happened” it’s about potential for the future.

This is a pretty incoherent sentence, but again, I’m taking issue with you ignoring the past and saying it’s not relevant when analyzing a religion. You seem like maybe you’re now backtracking on this, for which I’m glad.

I sort ignore you talking about the past because you’re just making stupid excuses for the present. But if I had pressed you on it, it wouldn’t have been good for you. Islam’s glorious liberal past? Oh God.

Islam has, at some places and points in the past, been far more liberal than Christianity. Especially in regards to the Jews. Is this information new to you?

For example, during the time period of the Crusades, Christian Europe was, with very few exceptions, far more hostile to Jews than the Muslim kingdoms.
