I get that, but from that snippet of transcript, the judge made it crystal clear that the dad and aunt are going to be on the hook if he doesn’t show up, and that they are promising to write a check they can’t currently cash. If they’re willing to take that risk - perhaps they are counting on the wingnut welfare wagon to come through for them if he skips town - then the court has basically said, “On your own head be it.”

And what happens if he skips? What is the penalty when those signing cannot afford the bail? Are they forced to declare bankruptcy? Or is the bail bondsman out of luck?
