I’m sure that they are trying to tie criticism of the party as inherently being criticism of the Hindu religion and this that it should be illegal. Same playbook as the theocrats everywhere else that want to protect their bigotry behind such a shield.

And of course, criticism (or even lack of sufficient approval) of Israeli government policies is often branded as “Anti-Semitic” by Fundamentalist Christians who don’t give a hoot about Jews or Judaism, they simply want to see the conditions for their End Times death cult prophecies fulfilled.
