Oh God. Can you imagine the terror they must have gone through in those final moments? An alarm sounding in your ear, perhaps some signs of physical distress - creaking or groaning metal, the pulse of an approaching pressure wave? The captain trying to scramble while keeping calm for his customers, blowing the tanks, dropping the weights, giving the ascent everything he had in the vain hope that a miracle might happen?
