One big difference. The Christians purged the Muslims and Jews out. When the Muslims controlled Iberia, this was not the case.

Spain and Portugal were flatly in the wrong.

Medieval wars don’t come in ‘who was in the wrong’ very often. Christian kings wanted the land, same as the Moors did when they came in.
