Yeah for the BWCA!
Some context - BWCA is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Northern MN and is adjacent to the Quetico in Canada. It’s a large wilderness area of over a million acres of lakes, forests, rivers, wildlife, and fish that is primarily explored by canoe (and occasionally kayak). No motors allowed and is adjacent/part of the Superior National Forest. There are plenty opportunities for day trips into the area but most people overnight camp and you can also hike in if you’re a bit odd like me.
This puts Twin Metals (a copper mining outfit) by Ely on hold for 20 years but does not directly impact PolyMet mine (a copper-nickel mine) south of the area but still in the watershed. News article: mprnews.org
