I really do not care what consenting adults do for fun in private and on their own time. All that concerns me here is the legality of the payments of money that exchanged hands as a result of the encounter in question.
I wonder if Stormys testimony will send TFG over the edge enough that he’ll do something that will get himself jailed.

The key word there is “consenting.” It sounds like there could be an additional issue with sexual assault, from reading some of the last thread.
I just want to let everyone know here, I don’t talk about my conversations with world leaders.

South Dakota has a syphilis problem
South Dakota experienced a 2,493% increase in adult syphilis cases from the five-year median in 2022, according to the state Department of Health, with 1,504 cases reported — the highest rate of syphilis cases in the country at the time. That was a 90% increase from 2021.

Syphilis was close to being eradicated in the United States in the 1990s but cases in South Dakota were increasing in the years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Syphilis infections nationwide have climbed rapidly in recent years, reaching a 70-year high in 2022, according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That rise comes amid a shortage of penicillin, the most effective treatment, due to the nationwide increase in syphilis cases. The shortage is predicted to last until the end of this year.
Hospitals were overwhelmed with treating the coronavirus in 2020 and 2021 and patients were hesitant to get screened or treated for STIs.

John Valby. Good times.
So, when you take Daniels’ testimony, you get a power imbalance, and Trump moving on her the way he explicitly describes in Access Hollywood video. The guy is a creep, and she found herself in a potentially dangerous situation.
Prosecutors walked a fine line around the sexual conduct between two adults, although I’m hesitant to call it consenting adults given the way she now frames the encounter. He would obviously claim that he did nothing wrong (criminally - it was the perfect sexual encounter).
She basically provides enough information to sustain that she knew Trump, and engaged in conduct for which Trump and his minions believed needed to be kept from the public.
Everything else is fluff (no adverse definitions intended).

GOP lawmaker banned from using legislative studio after interview with pro-Hitler streamer
A Republican state legislator in Arizona is now no longer allowed to use legislative broadcast equipment after he used it to talk to a far-right Rumble streamer who has praised Nazi leader Adolf Hitler.
Now just guess who would do that…
According to the Arizona Mirror, Republican state senator Anthony Kern was interviewed by Stu Peters last week, who has repeatedly and consistently praised Hitler and called for the mass murder of various political opponents. Kern used the legislative studio to join Peters’ channel to discuss a Drag Story Hour that took place at the state capitol in Phoenix, decrying both the event itself — in which a drag queen read a story to an audience of legislators and staffers — and the fact that it was held in a basement meeting room at the Arizona House of Representatives.

I bought the house at the top of the hill because this area of Kansas used to be an inland sea.
I watched the recent episodes of _My Lottery Dream Home_ to see how real estate is still being portrayed in 2024 to the masses.
Now that show, like pretty much everything on HGTV, is about feel-good short TV shows, meant to keep the viewer watching regardless of content topic.
So yes, the lottery winners, or inheritors of estates, are shown as victors over fate.
Well enough, I don’t mean to bad-mouth the buyers, who are just the typical debt-burdened Americans, now set free by chance.
But the purchasing and marketing of real estate is about as damning as anything in our American society.
Imagine pushing Florida coast-line property, sea-front on the Gulf, as something to pass down through the generations, as one recent episode claimed.
Or another couple who bought a place in a new subdivision in west Texas. All the land around them had been scraped of natural vegetation, now barren land, miles away from the city center, requiring automobiles to go anywhere.
The developer is obviously laying out land for a hundred or so more houses. So you get the double whammy of sprawl: 1) auto-dependence, and 2) destroying the countryside.
But the TV show is all cheery about the whole thing.
And west Texas is going to get hotter and drier.
But the buyers did not make a big thing of it being a multi-generational thing, so maybe they expect to die and just have the property wither away.
But back to the couple who bought on the Gulf coasting, by the water: the pretense over the multi-generational thing is all about making it a feel-good story.
Forget climate change - the show can’t even acknowledge that hurricanes happen, that insurance companies are fleeing the state of Florida, and that the Federal government will eventually have to decide to not bail-out people who are losing their houses to flooding because the bill will be too high.
From JPL: SWOT will help with flood predicitons, something we appear to need now.

CNN Hot Mic Picks Up Stifled Guffaws As Dana Bash Reads Out Stormy Daniels ‘Spanking’ Quote
When Bash stopped to read a quote about spanking Trump with a magazine, stifled laughs and a metallic clanging sound could be heard off camera, as Bash suppressed a smile:
re: #43 Love-Child of Cassandra and Sisyphus
I watch those shows because of my interest in architecture and design, and I’m curious how others want to use spaces. I find some of the choices they make to be odd, but invariably people want views, new homes, or ocean/waterfront properties because they’ve been conditioned that these are valuable or otherwise preferential to other locations.
Even with hurricane and storm/flood threats, waterfront/oceanfront properties are valuable, when they should get devalued because of the threat. People don’t care about the looming threat, until it happens. Even then, they’ll insist on rebuilding, and the costs that entails, rather than retreating from barrier beaches and locations that wash away with high tides, let alone storms. We see that nationally, and those on the show are little different than the majority of Americans who want to live by the sea/water.
Court resumes in a few minutes, and we get to see some of the documents entered as evidence: as a reminder, this all went down in the Oval Office after Trump entered the White House (this is from the indictment):

re: #47 dat_said
A bunch of grand juries differs. A criminal jury will likely say differently.
Trump engaged in a crime spree. The GOP refused to remove Trump via impeachment because they claimed that the criminal justice system would be the appropriate forum for handling his criminal conduct, and then turn around by stacking the court to thwart that administration of justice, slow roll criminal cases brought in multiple jurisdictions, and claim that impeachment was the only way to handle.
The GOP think they’re above the law and Johnson will say/do anything to covet Trump’s favor while maintaining his job for as long as possible.

Rolling Stone: Trump Is Planning To Send Kill Teams to Mexico to Take Out Cartel Leaders
IF HE WINS a second term in November, Donald Trump wants to covertly deploy American assassination squads into Mexico soon after he’s sworn into office again, according to three people who’ve discussed the matter with the former U.S. president.
It’s not covert if you’re talking about it.
Also, on top of an incredibly long list of why carrying out gangland killings in another nation is a bad idea, it was tried a dozen years ago by Mexico and it didn’t work.
The salacious nature of this testimony was due to the fact that Trump refused to admit certain facts as evidence to speed the case along. Instead, he insists that prosecutors create the entire chain of evidence/facts supporting their case.
In most cases, the sides agree on certain facts, so that testimony/evidence is not needed from witnesses so as to speed the trial along.
By refusing to do this here, Trump again opened the door to ridicule and questionable judgment as the Daniels testimony supports the reason why payment was needed in the first place.

That’s the danger when your entire defense strategy is built around disparaging the prosecution’s witnesses and attacking their credibility, you open the door for the prosecution to bring in evidence and avenues of testimony that the defense would really rather not be made public. If Blanche hadn’t insisted (likely at his client’s direction) on attacking Ms. Clifford’s motives, then the details of their encounter would likely have been ruled as not germane to the facts of the case and kept out.
The House Oversight and Reform Committee held a Tuesday hearing discussing the increase in antisemitic attacks on Americans on college campuses — and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) used it as the moment to promote the fringe conspiracy of the “Great Replacement Theory.”
According to an excerpt of the transcript posted by The Forward’s political reporter, Jacob N. Kornbluh, the meeting was held behind closed doors.
“When [Jamie] Raskin, when my colleague from Maryland talks about ‘White Replacement Theory’ — ‘Replacement Theory’ is real,” complained Perry.
“They added ‘white’ to it to stop everybody from talking about it,” Perry continued, without elaborating on who he was referring to.

Which is probably what caught Blanche off-guard, that he went into this figuring he was protecting his client from a bitter call-girl who tried to extort money out of him and found himself instead dealing with a quasi-rape trial. If he had the stones, he’d confront Trump about not telling him these details and thus leaving him vulnerable to being blind-sided at trial. His entire strategy of weaving a story that the prosecution’s key witnesses were all trying to con his client out of money to keep quiet just went up in smoke.

Daniels is making it clear that she fears for her family and didn’t fill out papers that might give doxxing info to Trump and his minions (with good reason).

Sean Hannity, the prominent Fox News personality, has made the decision to sell his expansive Long Island property for $13.75 million — mere months after revealing his relocation plans from New York to Florida.
In a notable shift, Hannity disclosed earlier this year that he would be broadcasting his renowned radio show, “The Sean Hannity Show,” as well as his television program, “Hannity,” from studios in West Palm Beach.
“We are now beginning our first broadcast from my new home, and that is in the free state of Florida,” Hannity announced on his iHeartRadio show. “I am out. I am done. I’m finished.”
Records obtained by the Wall Street Journal, which was first to report the listing, indicate that a limited liability company connected to Hannity acquired the waterfront estate for $8.5 million in 2008.

Or, that everyone does this kind of thing, so it’s fine if Trump does it.
This is the Trumpworld strategy of projecting his own malfeasance on everyone else, and claiming that he’s done nothing wrong because everyone does it.

Charles pointed out that that’s not a real post (and it’s marked over a year old), but I updinged you anyway because what you said is almost certainly true. I think he truly believes that slapping his campaign logo on a statement and calling it an “OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE” means that it is political speech, and cannot be suppressed.

The key word there is “consenting.” It sounds like there could be an additional issue with sexual assault, from reading some of the last thread.
Stormy apparently was not interested but I suspect that because of her profession and reputation, she felt that she could not reject his aggressive advances.

The overall defense narrative is that Daniels made up the entire encounter or the important details of it, first to make money and now to put Trump in jail so she doesn’t have to pay him legal fees.

Where is the property in relation (is the house on a hill?) to the flood plain, was a major factor in deciding location of both of the houses we’ve purchased in Nashville.
During the search for the 2nd home, the realtor (family friend) pointed to a spot of a wall ~ 4 ft from the floor & said that was the Harpeth River level in 2010.
When I grew up in Alaska our basement still had munge on the ceiling beams from the previous flood in 67 — the current house is well above the flood plain, has underground power, is close to a world class trauma ER and is on the same power grid as it.

The defense team are really hampered by the demands of their client to protect/salvage his reputation by destroying Daniels and Cohen. And it seems that their decision from the start to suggest that Daniels is a money-grubbing extortionist leading to the prosecution introducing her recall of events to the jury threw them the fuck off. So now they’re trying to make up lost ground by suggesting that not only is she an extortionist but an absolute liar who fabricated everything in pursuit of money.
this is not what i would consider a smart plan.

That’s what is making it so hard for the defense to sustain a narrative: The best they could do with the evidence is suggest that this whole thing started out as a plan to extort Trump for money and expanded into a plan with a political implications after he announced his candidacy in 2015. Yet he’s demanding that they prove that this was all started as a plan by the Democrats to destroy him politically by ruining his reputation with lies about an affair that never happened.

Also it would be completely accurate to describe the policy as intended to terrorize targets on an individual basis regardless of background. Like, it wasn’t even subtext when this was thought up that everything should be done to make border-crossers afraid and uncomfortable.

Cannon suspends key Mar-a-Lago deadline amid feud over evidence handling in Trump case
Judge Aileen Cannon suspended a key deadline in former President Trump’s documents case after his attorneys suggested special counsel Jack Smith’s team had “failed to preserve critical evidence” in the case, in response to prosecutors disclosing that some classified records may not be in the original order in which they were found.
The suspension marks yet another delay in a prosecution where Cannon has yet to even set a new trial date, casting further doubt on the chances the case will come before a jury ahead of the election.
It also scuttles an important discussion over which classified documents Trump and his co-defendants wish to use at trial — a battle now waylaid by the former president even as prosecutors argue “intra-box document sequencing” has no bearing on how the defendants will build their case.
Cannon did not set a new deadline on the matter, and settling how classified documents will be handled at trial could itself take months to resolve.

It’s getting to the point where a motion to recuse (denied) followed by a motion for writ of man-dumbass (mandamus) to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to force the recusal is warranted. You cannot put a trial on hold indefinitely for every single little frivolous thing the defense keeps dredging up out of the kitchen sink to throw.

‘Change of heart’: Bankrupt Giuliani says he’s been dropped by his own accountant
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been dropped by his accountant and cannot find another to take up the management of his beleaguered finances, court records show.
Doesn’t it just make you weep crocodile tears?
AW HELL NO! In the immortal words of James Brown—I FEEL GOOD!!!!!
Giuliani’s lawyers filed Tuesday a response in his New York City federal bankruptcy case that details financial woes that include his unpopularity among accountants and his sole sources of income: social security, a radio show and a podcast.
“Unfortunately, [Giuliani] originally had an accountant who was helping, however, he had a change of heart and indicated that he no longer wished to help prepare the monthly operating reports,” the filing states.
“Sounds like Rudy’s accountant dropped him as a client,” attorney Bradley Moss quipped when he shared the filing on X.
The document states the “Debtor” — Giuliani — “advised that he reached out to a number so accounting firms and CPA’s seeking their help, however, no one seems interested in taking the assignment.”
re: #160 Patricia Kayden
She has so far. Why he hasn’t moved to have her taken off the case is beyond me.
There are rules for that. Basically, it has to be completely undeniable to everybody involved that the judge is not on the up-and-up. And while it’s been obvious to us for some time that she’s been deliberately slow-walking things in order to obstruct justice, most of the things she’s done have juuuuust enough plausibility that the 11th Circuit would probably say, “No, you’re stuck with her.” That plausibility has been rapidly disappearing, first with the PRA jury instructions garbage, now with this. I’m starting to see, for the first time, lawyers actively arguing that Smith should file that motion for recusal, which tells me that people with experience filing such motions and the standards for such are beginning to confirm that what she’s doing has finally crossed that line.
re: #154 Eclectic Cyborg

She has the power, and she is being coached by people much smarter than she is.
Unless the Feds wiretap that advice line and run that up to the appeals court, this case is almost certainly a dead duck.

I’ve been predicting this. Apple hates to be dependent on others, like Nvidia or AWS. So I expected them to develop their own servers to use mostly for their own purposes when dealing wth AI. ‘He can use mass transit’: NYC official trolls Trump for congestion pricing whines
Former President Donald Trump was trolled by a powerful New York City official Tuesday after he complained congestion pricing cost a “fortune.”
Trump took to Truth Social Tuesday to complain about the traffic-controlling policy in Manhattan, where the former president faces criminal charges linked to alleged hush money paid to a porn star ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
A Metropolitan Transit Authority representative had a swift response to Trump, according to Michael Gold of the New York Times.
“Once streets are less congested the former president’s SUV should be able to get to the courthouse faster, or he can use mass transit like millions of hardworking New Yorkers do every day,” said John J. McCarthy, policy and external relations chief.
McCarthy also provided a screenshot of transit directions from Trump Tower to the Manhattan courthouse — which requires just a short ride on the 4 Train.
