I knew a guy who had been a TA at Texas Tech and had John Hinckley in one of his Ag classes. It just happened that he, the instructor, was IN DC on the day of the shooting. He had gone there for an interview at the Department of Agriculture. The FBI arrived at his hotel room less than an hour after the shooting. He hadn’t heard about it up to that point. They pushed him into a chair and demanded to know if he knew John Hinckley. “Huh? What?” he thought. Then he remembered, weird lazy guy who quit showing up for class. He asked to know what was going on. The FBI guy said, “He just shot the President.” Oh shit, shit shit, deepest possible shit, he thought, and he was as innocent as a newborn baby. He eventually managed to convince then of that. Among other things, they let him proceed to his interview but sent two agents with him, to the consternation of the AG folks. He did get the job.

Showing up for an interview flanked by two agents is very impressive. I’d have hired him too.

To no one’s surprise:

WWE Board Probes Secret $3 Million Hush Pact by CEO Vince McMahon, Sources Say

The board of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. WWE 4.95%▲ is investigating a secret $3 million settlement that longtime chief executive Vince McMahon agreed to pay to a departing employee with whom he allegedly had an affair, according to documents and people familiar with the board inquiry.

The January 2022 separation agreement bars the now-former employee, who was hired as a paralegal in 2019, from discussing her relationship with Mr. McMahon or disparaging him, the people said.

The board’s investigation, which began in April, has unearthed other, older nondisclosure agreements involving claims by former female WWE employees of misconduct by Mr. McMahon and one of his top executives, John Laurinaitis, the head of talent relations at WWE, the people said. The Journal couldn’t determine how many previous agreements were being scrutinized.

The board’s outside counsel was still collecting information about the other NDAs this week but has determined that the payments totaled in the millions of dollars, the people said.

The board’s eight independent directors have retained New York-based law firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP to conduct the investigation, one of the people said. The board’s preliminary findings are that Mr. McMahon used personal funds to pay the former female employees who signed the agreements, including the one involving allegations against Mr. Laurinaitis, this person said.

I just hope the firm hired by the independent contractors find out why McMahon really sent Trump $6M over a few years.

This is good from Marc Elias today:

“The least surprising revelation of this week’s Jan. 6 hearings is that Rudy Giuliani was in the White House on election night in 2020 offering drunken advice to Donald Trump. Indeed, after observing his performance in November and December 2020, I would have been more surprised if he had not had a drink or two.

Nor was I surprised to learn that conspiracist attorney Sidney Powell was on “Team Crazy.” We knew that from the press conference where she spewed nonsense while Giuliani’s hair dye was sweating down his face. Recall that at one point Powell announced that she was going to “release the Kraken.” What the mythical monster squid had to do with election certification was never clear. But, then again, neither were her lawsuits, which were replete with references to the late Hugo Chávez and typographical errors.

The Jan. 6 hearings did contain one big surprise. It was revealed that there was a group of people associated with Trump who considered themselves — unironically — to be on “Team Normal.” Led by former Trump campaign manager Bill Stepien, this group may not have been exactly pro-democracy, but its members were not stumbling around the White House drunkenly telling the former president that the election was stolen from him. It may not have been a high bar, but this group cleared it. And that was enough for “Team Normal.”

Not that Stepien was without his own eccentricities. Prior to the job with Trump, Stepien was best known as former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) campaign manager. He was cast aside by Christie after it became public that in 2013 the then-governor’s staff schemed to create massive traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey by closing two of the three lanes available for local traffic to enter the George Washington Bridge that connects New Jersey and New York City. Fort Lee suffered the very punishment one would expect after its Democratic mayor failed to endorse a Republican governor for reelection.

Now back to the hearings. Stepien did not identify who else was on “Team Normal,” but it seems likely that another Christie campaign veteran, Justin Clark, was a member in good standing. Before the election, Clark had been caught on tape acknowledging that “traditionally it’s always been Republicans suppressing votes in places” and that for Trump’s reelection it was time to “start playing offense a little bit.” While distressing for many to hear, this was a normal pre-election voter suppression training for the GOP.

Also vying for “Team Normal” was Jason Miller….”

remember also that none of this has stopped Stepien from cashing in on The Big Lie.

he told the Jan. 6 committee that he quit Donald Trump’s campaign after the 2020 election because he could not go along with his election lies.

he still continues to coordinate Trump’s political operation, which is built almost entirely on spreading those exact election lies

He has already made at least $1.4 million by fueling it.

I can see it on Election Day in Philly. Since I have my certificate that says I was elected to the post of Minority Inspector of Elections they cannot remove me. I know someone will try.

They always get all the facts all fucked up. Just as the wearing of masks was not predominantly to stop you from catching Covid as they were to keep an infected person from spitting the virus onto things that people could touch and then catch it from there. The vaccine is not to keep you from catching Covid, but to prep your body to fight it off quickly if/when you do get it.

Companies often have very loose practices when it comes to distributing sensitive information. Consultants would create Excel workbooks with SS#, birth dates, names, addresses — and then send it to others outside their team to help resolve Excel issues they encountered. When I retired, my company laptop had hundreds of such workbooks — heaven knows where the information ended up.

I guess they weren’t getting the weekly reminders of the rules imposed by the GPDR like I do.

The House committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol has obtained email correspondence between Virginia ‘Ginni’ Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and lawyer John Eastman, who played a key role in efforts to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to block the certification of Joe Biden’s victory the Washington Post reports.

The emails show that Thomas’s efforts to overturn the election were more extensive than previously known.”

“The committee’s members and staffers are now discussing whether to spend time during their public hearings exploring Ginni Thomas’s role in the attempt to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election.”

I’ve been diving into the online world of the various John Brown Gun Clubs and other armed liberal groups. I won’t say anything about specific content except that there is a striking absence of performative intent once the shooting actually begins. This is a dramatic contrast to the RW ammosexuals, who seem to evaluate every idea or plan or tactic according to its contribution to the image they try to project. This is an inherent weakness for the RW, since the requirements of operational security are in direct conflict with performative and image directed actions. This is not the only area where this is true either. Equipment of every kind, down to water bottles and can openers, is chosen for its scary display value. Being conspicuous is potentially lethal in an actual combat situation, yet it is all the RW gangs seem to have, and the real reason for their existence.
The JBs, on the other hand, are serious people, and they have serious plans.

It’s a start. But going through the FAQ I see nothing about enforcement. Red States are going to ignore this unless there is actual enforcement. Study groups and FED level directives are all well and good, but unless there is teeth to enforce these rules at the State and local level, they are just more empty words on a piece of paper. And I am sick and tired of empty words. The evangelical right wants us DEAD and will continue along this path until actual meaningful laws with actual fucking teeth to enforce them are enacted to prevent them from engaging in wholesale genocide.

Needless to say, the dipshit who was arrested outside Kavanaugh’s house was not associated with any armed liberal group, though Tucker, Sean and the other usual suspects had practically promoted him to the DNC within hours. In fact, he seems to have based his planning on right wing notions and attitudes, including his gear and weapons. That he was dumb enough to think he could just take a cab to the target’s home also places him well below the normal range of intelligence for armed liberals.

I am not suggesting that this is some kind of false flag operation, which cannot involve identified and traceable individuals in the real world. He is dumb enough to be a rightie, though, as the Coeur d’Alene idiots demonstrated when they initiated their operation by very conspicuously getting into a highly conspicuous vehicle. If this had been during a period of active hostilities, say, after a massive attempt at violent election theft, and a resistance group had gotten wind of it, the Patriot Front goobers could have been massacred.

It’s not sleepwalking, It is the fact that modern Republicans finally found a way to hack democracy itself and convince the powerful and dominant plurality of white men that democracy itself needs to go away because it allows undesirables and natural inferiors free stuff in a zero-sum game.

The methodology came about from a steady stream of propaganda ever since the Fairness Doctrine was revoked, the Murdochs moved in and the internet allowed unmitigated conspiracy exchange and manufacturing. And corporations one by one line up to adjust to the new normal no problem. NYT, CNN .. watch as Apple, Meta and Google also join in as 2024 approaches.

It was not Communism that defeated democracy. It turns out to actually be Capitalism. Irony unchained,

When I lived in Austin in the early 1980s, there was a group called the “John Brown Anti-Klan Committee”. In 1983, the JBAKC and another group, the Brown Berets, were involved in disrupting a KKK march/rally. The police were, as usual, heavy-handed in breaking up the fracas. However, someone got some grainy footage of the cops going in on the JBAKC and it was used for years as an intro to their show on Austin Cablevision.

More at the link:

I do not believe the JBAKC and the JBGC are related, except that in they believe in John Brown’s direct action. Thought I’d just mention it as one of those things just stored back in my head.

Anecdote - My father served in the American Army occupation of Germany immediately after World War 2. One of his hobbies was checking out various parts of Germany. He picked up a tour brochure of famous German churches and as he visited them, took a picture of that specific pile of rubble.

He also had film footage of one of the Nazi work camps when the American Army captured it. And as they were recovering all the bodies of the prisoners that the Germans had locked in buildings which were then set on fire. Many of the victims were whole families.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We’re heading towards warmer weather here heading into the weekend, but my thoughts are out in Yellowstone, where the park’s infrastructure is getting absolutely wrecked by flooding following rains. The entire park is shutdown to inbound visitors, and the NPS is working to make sure those in the park are safely able to exit the park. All of the park’s lodging is closed. Gardiner is cut off inside Montana, and major rivers cutting through the park have flooded out. It may be months before the park fully reopens, and they may have to limit visitors via reservations.

Teukka  Jun 15, 2022 • 7:30:34pm

Your daily reminder of the convergence between 🇿 and Western extremists:

Designation of Anton Thulin as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist

The U.S. government remains deeply concerned about the evolving racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist (REMVE) threat worldwide. An element of it entails violent white supremacists traveling internationally to train and fight with likeminded individuals. As part of our efforts to counter this threat, the Department of State is designating Anton Thulin as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) pursuant to Executive order (E.O.) 13224, as amended, for posing a significant risk of committing acts of terrorism.
Additionally, the Department of the Treasury is designating, under E.O. 13244, Stanislav Shevchuk for acting or purporting to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM); and Alexander Zhuchovsky for materially assisting, sponsoring, or providing financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, RIM.
RIM, which was designated by the Department of State as an SDGT in 2020, is an ultranationalist, white supremacist group based in Russia that provides paramilitary-style training to white supremacists and neo-Nazis and plays a prominent role in attempting to rally Europeans and Americans into a common front against perceived enemies.
In 2016, Anton Thulin, a Swedish citizen, traveled to St. Petersburg and received paramilitary training from RIM, including in bomb-making. In 2017, a Swedish court convicted Thulin and sentenced him to 22 months in prison in connection with the detection of a powerful homemade bomb near a refugee residential center in Gothenburg, Sweden. After serving his sentence, Thulin sought to receive additional paramilitary training in Poland, before he was expelled by Polish authorities who cited the “serious, real, and current threat to security and public order” he posed.
The United States is designating Anton Thulin because his continued pursuit of terrorist training, even after serving his prison sentence for his role in the 2017 attack in Sweden, demonstrates that he continues to pose a significant risk of committing acts of terrorism.

[More at link]

At the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017, a series of events occurred in Gothenburg. Three Nazis were convicted in 2017 in both the district court and the court of appeal for involvement in the crimes. The most serious incident, the act against a refugee residence in Frölunda where a cleaner at the residence was seriously injured, no one was convicted.
One of those convicted was Anton Thulin, now 25, who was sentenced to one year and ten months in prison by the Court of Appeal. [Sauce: Expressen]

And this is far from the only time when domestic terrorists in the West and 🇿’s converge, or have been strongly suspected of converging (cf. Fjotolf Hansen, a.k.a. Andrew Berwick, a.k.a. Anders Behring-Brevik)…

Dunkin Donuts has made inroads even here in the heathen South. There is one a couple of miles from my house.

Yeah, the video coming out from Yellowstone is absolutely shocking and stunning. I remember driving those roads, and miles of washouts means it will take months if not longer for those roads to be rebuilt.

I was thinking about how isolated many of these mountain communities are. Connected via a single road in a narrow mountain valley. A flood, such as that in Montana or I-70 in California. Or fires like those along I-70 West of Denver can really cut off communities.

I have some distant Evangelical relatives that live near Silverthorne, Colorado. While I am completely unfamiliar with that area, I have heard how isolated their area is. And with fires along I-70 East of town, I wonder how that has affected them.

It is a labor of love, and very hard labor. You’re trying to encapsulate a lifetime in such a short space; trying to paint a portrait in words that will do justice to the woman you all loved.

I know, I wrote my mother’s obituary — wrote and re-wrote and wanted a dozen more pages than I could take.

You can do this. You won’t be entirely satisfied with the result, there will be so much more that you wanted to say. But I am sure it will be a fitting tribute to her, offered in love and good memories.

When I used to play gigs north of the Twin Cities, there was a Dunkin Donut shop I would stop at on the way home at about 1:30-2:00 am and ask them what they had that was still warm. They’d tell me and sometimes add “but they haven’t been glazed yet”. That was the gold standard.

Giant tortoise believed extinct confirmed alive in the Galápagos Islands
washingtonpost.com

The “fantastic giant tortoise” — a rare Galápagos species with a huge, flared shell — has only been identified once, more than a century ago, in 1906. It’s since widely been considered extinct.

But that’s not the case, researchers found this week — sparking hope that the lineage of giant tortoise can be revived. A team found Fernanda, a lone female fantastic giant tortoise, in 2019. Scientists this week confirmed that she is part of the rare species thought to have died out.

I maintain the belief that the whole 1/6 fiasco was planned with the idea that either Pence would “call a halt” to the counting or refuse to count electors from the “disputed” states, leading to Congress failing to certify the election before midnight. The hope being that the far-right SCOTUS majority would have the opening they needed to finally make Bush v. Gore look like a minor disagreement.

This is the difference between Theism and Deism.

You cite a perfect example of Theism. God’s will (for some reason) (He moves in mysterious ways) (this will all be all clear later on), versus Deism (God had nothing to do with this and it’s horse shit to believe otherwise because God is not an active player in our Universe).

It’s all in the eyebrows.

And it’s the witching hour in the ‘04.

We only got to 98 degrees today, but the high pressure dome that drifted east last night is drifting back to us tonight, so for the next week we will have temps at +100 degrees.

More importantly, no rain. Normally June is our second wettest month (after May), but it appears that without a tropical system barging in from the coast late in the month, we will end up with less than 2/3 of an inch (we are at .6” right now).

So that kinda sucks.

In any case, night all, sweet scaly dreams, and be nice to each other. We all need it.

On a smaller scale, there were once three Dunkin Donuts in my downtown. Downtown Salem is not large, maybe 12 square blocks (the whole city is just less than 9 square miles).

Two of the Dunks closed, one of which was conveniently between me and work.

That was years ago.

I’m still pissed off!

I am more annoyed that our local bank has closed not only its branch offices but even its nearby ATM’s. I basically have to drive to the next town to access cash without having to pay a fee to use the generic ATM in Bacharach.

This court is lost. It’s just toast.

A lawyer advising President Donald Trump claimed in an email after Election Day 2020 to have insight into a ‘heated fight’ among the Supreme Court justices over whether to hear arguments about the president’s efforts to overturn his defeat at the polls,” the New York Times reports.

“The lawyer, John Eastman, made the statement in a Dec. 24, 2020, exchange with a pro-Trump lawyer and Trump campaign officials over whether to file legal papers that they hoped might prompt four justices to agree to hear an election case from Wisconsin.”

“The pro-Trump lawyer, Kenneth Chesebro, replied that the ‘odds of action before Jan. 6 will become more favorable if the justices start to fear that there will be ‘wild’ chaos on Jan. 6 unless they rule by then, either way.’”

The one good thing is that white nationalists are so reliably corrupt, entitled, hypocritical and self-serving that inserting FBI moles and rat-fink turncoats into their organizations has been rather easy compared to other extremist groups.

Don’t see a for-real Writ of Mandamus in the wild all that often.

New one for me. I did not know what a Writ of Replevin was until I watched the Coen Brothers’ remake of True Grit:

Wiki:

Replevin (/rɪˈplɛvɪn/) or claim and delivery (sometimes called revendication) is a legal remedy, which enables a person to recover personal property taken wrongfully or unlawfully, and to obtain compensation for resulting losses

re: #244 steve_davis

the good news is that housing will finally possibly get down to where I could afford it, if my portfolio weren’t down a comparable amount in the process.

A lot of big banks were buying up all the housing they could get their hands on as investments, which was driving “normal” customers out of the market.

In that instance, Shaw outlines three options: Trump could be impeached again, the Cabinet could initiate 25th amendment proceedings to remove Trump from office, or Trump could present the case to the courts that his sentence must be suspended until after his term in office.*

Jamie Shler clued me into this French habit.

The article is interesting. And then I got to this bit:

Consider a recent protest at Bruegel’s institute, France’s National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment, over the proposed introduction of American-style brown-bag seminars. “Lunchtime seminars were considered as socially regressive, intellectually insufficient and so on,” he says, “because you needed a break in your work time!”

“Lunch ‘n Learn” has grown to be pretty common. I now don’t even consider joining in.

re: #254 Ming5000

The French labor code prohibits workers from eating lunch in the workplace. The solo work lunch is also shunned in a culture that prizes a change of pace and scenery during the midday meal.

And French school lunches are not just seen as another expense to be minimized to the bare bones (remember “Ketchup as a Vegetable” under Reagan?)

They see it as an opportunity to teach children about nutrition, table manners, culture and socialization.

Instead, we get anecdotes from GOP legislators about the fictional welfare kid who wishes his mommy could lovingly back his brown-bag lunch but she would rather be off pursuing her “career” as a liberal activist and part-time crack whore and letting the government feed her offspring and learn how to become dependent on the dole…

DT is not going to see the inside of jail.

The political will is missing or he would have been put away long ago over conflicts of interest, obstruction of justice, violations of campaign finance laws as well as the Emoluments Clause.

The best we can hope for is to seize or attach his assets and keep him out of office by showing up to vote in strong numbers and actively defending our right to have our legally cast ballots counted, registered and certified.

We’ve used various makes of trail cameras over the years, the one we are using now is best suited for our purposes. It has enough resolution to enable cropping the pictures w/o pixelating and the fixed lenses in this model have a focus range that is useful.

A day after The Daily Beast broke the news that Herschel Walker had a secret 10-year-old son he fathered out of wedlock, the football star-turned-politician confirmed late Wednesday night that he has yet another son with a different woman that the public doesn’t know about—as well as a daughter that he had in college.

The revelations come in the middle of Walker’s competitive race to unseat Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and after many public comments Walker has made about absent fathers in the Black community.

What a banner day for the SCOTUS, Trump, and Herschel Walker. The least bad news was that Walker had another undisclosed kid who he fathered and didn’t pay paternity for. You have Trump losing yet another appeal - this time the Court of Appeals in NY (the state’s highest court) ruled that he had to testify under oath in the AG suit against him.

And then, you have the Thomas’ openly coordinating with Trump lawyer Eastman on ending democracy all while there’s cause for concern that the right wing extremists are about to overturn Miranda.

The SCOTUS under Roberts is an illegitimate mess thanks to Trump and McConnell packing the courts with the very kind of Christian fascists who would undo the administrative state, curb civil rights to who they consider undesirable, and to ensure that burdens fall on those least able to endure them in every way imaginable.

And that’s just the past 24 hours.

I used it until I discovered the wonder of Firefox and never looked back. Dabbled with Chrome for a time, before I realized it was a resource hog and promptly booted it.

They are all resource hogs. I played with trying to find a more efficient one and basically discovered that they all had very high memory demands and pretty much universally would start having orphan processes and/or memory leaks after you used them for a while. Settled on Chrome since it sort of recovered memory after you closed tabs or had it crash. (My experience with Firefox was that it would start chugging and then freeze up and you’d lose all the tab info.)

When I got the Win10 laptop I used Edge for a while. Then it crashed and opening it back up made it initiate like you’d never used it before. And that also erased all my internet links that I have saved. Annoying. Then it happened again. And the published MS solution (at the time) was to save your links in IE and then import them into Edge. (Seriously) So I just went back to Chrome and reconsolidated my links.

Internet Explorer was once synonymous with the Internet, but today it’s gone for good

I suspect no tears will fall, Explorer will not be missed.

It’s still installed on my work box. I don’t have the ability to remove it myself since my box is locked down. Oh for the days when I could just install any ole thing on my work box since I had admin rights! (Not really, LOL.)

And in other me news, I’m getting prepped for my run over to Los Angeles this weekend to protest in front of John MacArthur’s Grace Community Church in Sun Valley. A few things I’ve learned:

1) I mentioned this before, but the Southern Baptist Convention’s annual meeting was in Anaheim this week. On Sunday, a number of SBCers made the pilgrimage up to the Burbank area to pay court to John MacArthur.

2) Perhaps it’s related to (1) or maybe people know that Johnny Mac’s 83rd birthday is on June 19 (Juneteenth, also my birthday) but some people have been doing a deep dive into MacArthur’s sermons (thread) and the dude believes in that whole curse of Canaan falling upon black people thing:

So maybe my idea of having one side of my sign saying “Happy Juneteenth John” is fine, and maybe I should add, “you closet racist”? I’m still trying to figure out something pithy to say about women refusing to shut up for the other side of my sign.

3) I mentioned to one of my coworkers (lives in NC) that I was running over to LA to protest a church. He has no problem with that; he has fond memories of his grandmother teaching Sunday school back in the day (something that would be prohibited or frowned upon now in a lot of white SBC churches). I dropped a few hints about who it was but nothing specific *and he figured it out*. I was blown away.

4) And in “ooh shiny!” I learned that a PC game based on the 1997 movie Starship Troopers is dropping today. must ignore until next week…must…ignore…

Members of the security team at a Black megachurch in Warner Robins, Georgia had their spidey senses go off when they noticed a visitor acting strangely. It turned out that he was openly displaying his newly-bought gun on social media and suggested that if he had the chance, he’d target “gun-free zones.” Thanks to the quick thinking of the security team, local deputies, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, this very troubled man was banned from setting foot at that church again and told—not asked—to get the gun out of the house.

In early June, the security team at Fellowship Bible Baptist Church thought something seemed off about an 18-year-old white man who came to the Wednesday night service. As the church’s security chief, Ezra Wyche, put it, “sometimes you get that feeling that something is just not right.”

When senior pastor Tolan Morgan heard about this, he was shaken—enough that he was only willing to talk to WMAZ off camera.

“A threat walked into our church. He knows where we worshiped. He sat through the entire service. He knows my face and he is still out there. I need to protect my family… We came that close to dying. That guy could’ve walked in and went to spraying. He posted on his Facebook page that he’s a new proud owner of an AR-15. He could’ve walked in Wednesday and went to killing. The fact that he didn’t, one, was by the grace of God and, two, we have to view as he could come back. We came that close to danger coming to walk in our church. It’s one of those situations where you have a reality check. Life comes and knocks on your door. You can’t look at what happens across the country and say, ‘That’s not coming to my door.’ That’s foolish,” Morgan said.

The backchannel between the Proud Boys and the White House means that the seditious conspiracy goes into the WH.

Time to place bets on who the backchannel was:

Meadows: 5-1
Rudy: 8-1 (2-1 on scotch and soda)
Ginny Thomas: 20-1
Eastman: no odds (he’s my bet on who it was)

Also, as Eastman was Trump’s lawyer, all of his actions here fall into the crime fraud exception and his supposed attorney-client privilege gets pierced. You can’t assert privilege to cover up crime. And Eastman was central to the crimes here. He was coordinating all this and was the go between for Trump and the efforts to end democracy in America on 1/6.

Jamie Shler clued me into this French habit.

The article is interesting. And then I got to this bit:

“Lunch ‘n Learn” has grown to be pretty common. I now don’t even consider joining in.

The main reason I went to those was whether the topic was interesting and also as a way to socially mix a bit with people from some of the other HQ departments. Working in IT can make things a bit too insular at times.

One thing I did like about the HQ I worked in after they changed their floor set and essentially had it customized. It was a bit of a show case.
1. Good-sized lunch room that could seat 20-30. TV there set to news (usually)*. Large enough it could also double for lunch-and-learn and department group meetings if necessary.

2. They later added a “training class” area on the floor to replace renting room elsewhere in the building for HQ meetings and larger training classes. If there wasn’t training going on you could go eat lunch in there**. Counter seats along the windows for a view and also a ping-pong table.

* - Brazilian company. TV was set to football during the World Cup. And work *slowed* if Brazil was playing.

** - If you picked up after yourself. And people were very good about doing that.

Nevada Republican Jim Marchant insisted there hadn’t been a legitimate election in his state in more than a decade. All of Nevada’s election winners since 2006, he said on a recent podcast, were ‘installed by the deep-state cabal,’” the AP reports.

“Such inconsistency has become a hallmark of election deniers in Republican primary contests across the U.S. in this year’s midterms.”

In 2024 the GOP is going to make sure and disqualify at least one state that the GOP appears to have won.

But the overall strategy will focus on disqualifying enough votes to preclude any candidate from getting an EC majority, which will send it to the House of Representatives, which the GOP will likely control in 2024.

Fat Guy cannot win the popular vote and is unlikely to win the EC by any fair count either. But why should that stop them? They will move on to winning at whatever level they need to win, which will then be by throwing it to the House.

And yes, if Trump is re-elected, the damage to our country will take generations to fix if it is reversible at all. I must admit that I am very pessimistic about that of late.

I remain optimistic we can defeat this evil. It gave me hope when Trump’s hand picked election stealers didn’t even advance to a runoff in the Georgia GOP primary. We’ll see how things stand after the midterms.

We haven’t seen the emails from Stone to Eastman…I think Stone —> Ginni —> Eastman was the path

If GOP wins back the house, that is very ominous.

Remember, the only thing that stopped Trump in 2020 was a record Democratic turnout and a handful of GOP state election officials with some shreds of decency and ethics.

We might not be able to count on such a massive turnout again, and the GOP has replaced everyone with any integrity at state level with loyal party hacks ready to do whatever they are told to do.

$60K is a lot of money to speak for a few minutes, but it’s a pretty low amount for participating in a coup attempt that should result in prosecution if we’re not a failed nation. I wouldn’t attempt a coup for under a million.

Right now those statements on Ukraine are positioning, I cannot imagine that Ukraine will not be compelled to lose some territory as part of a peace settlement, the idea is to make Russia see what an enormous cost it paid for a few slivers of land that they had de facto already occupied before the war.

In another two weeks Ukraine will be able to hit Russian supply lines deep in the Donbas and well south of Kherson with HIMARS. Once they start cutting off Russia’s ability to reload, their artillery will run dry and Russia will be pulling back into Crimea. Even Mariupol will go back to Ukraine. At that point, Sevastapol will be in range.

This war is turning around. Russia just doesn’t know it yet.

If Ukraine decides to give up some territory (and that is their decision to make), then we must immediately take what’s left of the country into NATO and start building forward NATO military bases, with a permanent NATO presence in the country.

Also, personally, I want to see NATO forward military bases in the Baltic States, Finland and Sweden (provided they join NATO) and Russia be declared an international state sponsor of terrorism by the United States.
