re: #308 Scottish Dragon

The plan going around right now in some quarters is that the Speaker refuses to seat Dems after the next election and then votes to not confirm the election if Biden wins, thereby throwing the election to the House and Trump is confirmed. All of this is entirely legal, but not likely the Senate would join in. It still sets stage for both candidates claiming victory next January 6…..

gonna jump in here
most of the scenarios being discussed today simply will not happen.
that they ‘could possibly’ happen is another matter.

for this one specifically, that’s not the way it works
- when this congress adjourns, there is no speaker anymore.
- when the new congress convenes (i believe on 1/3), the first job is to elect a speaker
- the previous speaker is not in charge of this process and has no say. he just has one vote, like everyone else.
- every elected congressperson gets to vote their one vote.
- no business happens until a speaker is elected
- while the speaker is elected ‘by the house’ we know it’s by the majority party
— if there are more dems, it’s Jeffries

second, refusing to accurately count the certifications is not ‘all perfectly legal’ and everyone would not simply sit by and say ‘well that’s how it works, that’s the way it goes…”

if the actual election results are ‘obvious’ and every knew the ‘true’ count, there would be instantaneous lawsuits. and the facts would win.

yes they would.
