If this is their best bet for showing clear lawbreaking, it might not be a bad idea to at least put the other investigations on hold. If the Senate won’t convict on Trump obviously breaking a clearly written law, I don’t know why they would convict on something more ambiguous.

My point is, if they don’t think they can get to 67 on any one charge, then they should force Republicans to vote on a couple dozen charges.

That said, I do see the potential for Republicans getting together and splintering their votes so there’s 60-65 votes to convict on each charge but not enough to remove on a single charge.
