This angle I am taking is more of a philosophical one and not my own opinions. But I do think I have a problem with society having a large group of Citizens with restricted Rights while trying to live just like the rest of us.

Like the mentally disturbed that are “much better now” and released from the institution. Should there be any restrictions on them? My thinking on this is if someone committed a violent crime with a gun then they should not be able to own a gun “legally” for the rest of their lives. On the other hand if they committed a crime but didn’t use a gun in the commission of the crime then after they server their time they should have the right to own a gun.

The case by case idea is the best. This whole “one size fits all” justice is bullshit. Mandatory sentencing and all that is garbage. If mandatory sentencing is the case, just do away with judges and lawyers and everyone gets convicted according to a Chinese menu layout (crime in column A, punishment in column B). To hell with jury of our peers, it will be justice by committee (scary part is just who is on that committee).
