ugh - private prisons. If the purpose of prison is punishment, private prisons are prime. (sorry, couldn’t resist the alliteration.) If you think prisoners are people, some (hopefully many) of whom can be rehabilitated, they’re worthless.

Because the primary objective is profit, they do better if recidivism is high.
