Video: Donald Trump on Hillary: “If She Were a Man She Wouldn’t Get 5% of the Vote”

Horrible human says horrible things again

YouTube

Just the latest awfulness from the most awful human being ever to run for President of the United States:

“If Hillary Clinton were a man, I don’t think she’d get 5% of the vote. The only thing she’s got going is the woman’s card, and the beautiful thing is - women don’t like her, OK? And look how well I did with women tonight, OK.”

Check out the look on Mary Pat Christie’s face as he makes these ugly remarks. And check out how stubby his index finger is.

Stupid is as stupid does. It’s like he can’t help himself or doesn’t want to. I still think it’s a long con or a short one that went too far.

Hillary now stands at more than 12,150,000 votes for the primary season. That’s two million more than Mitt Romney’s total in 2012, 2.5 million more than John McCain’s in 2008, two million more than John Kerry’s in 2004, and 1.5 million more than Al Gore’s in 2000. She’s also passed GW Bush’s 2000 total, which likely gives her the third-highest vote total of any Presidential primary candidate in history behind President Obama and… herself.

Drumpfskind’s own experience with women is telling him that they will be supplicant to his demands.

I think we agree he’ll try but she’s going to expose him for the fraud he really is. I can’t wait for the DNC ads that show that this “genius” businessman is a fucking failure who has been coddled his whole life because of his connections.

Caught this on CNN, from Bernie:

“I think we have a shot in Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island. Maybe Delaware. I think Maryland’s going to be tougher for us,” he said.

I think Clinton’s team has a pretty solid understanding of how to trash Trump (not that it’s hard), but I think they’re missing a strong undercurrent of humor.

You know, the Obama-should-have-patented-it: chuckle, sidegaze, headshake, FATALITY.

Has any candidate in the history of time ever done such a good job of doing his opponents Oppo Research for them as Trump has done? I swear that Trump is trying to throw this.

Think about it, 4 years of having to be President, deal with Congress, be ‘responsible’, or lose in a land slide, and spend the next 4 years sucking down YUUGE checks for speaking engagements and getting a seat at the ‘pundits’ table.

I swear it’s one of the most brilliant long cons ever pulled.

I’m not saying he is, but if he were, his behavior would be indistinguishable from what we’re seeing right now.

24
majii  Apr 26, 2016 • 9:11:53pm

It appears that when Josh Marshall said that Trump’s behavior in the primary would follow him into the general election, he was right. Trump is who he is, and there’s no changing that. Recent polls have shown that republican, democratic, and independent women do not love Trump, so I guess the love he says he’s getting from the majority of women in America is all in his head. Women in the GOP/TP voting for him in primaries and caucuses do not represent a majority of women in the nation. Math is not Trump’s subject/field.

“…Trump is a man who has called an entire group of people rapists, who wants to build walls and barriers between people, who supports nuclear weapons proliferation, who has threatened to commit war crimes if elected president. And it is Hillary Clinton, a woman who has dedicated her career to improving the lot of women and children and breaking down systems of oppression, who gets the most negative coverage.”

I think he probably does because he’s already avoided the sh*t stirring that Shaun King engages in in order to gain attention. He may be the turtle to King’s hare at this point, but I think slow and steady wins the race in the long-term game over authoritarian behavior, sh*t stirring, and attention seeking.

This guy gets on my very last nerve. McCrory is blaming the democratic city council in Charlotte, the Democratic Party, and the Human Rights Campaign for his signing NC HB2 into law. This sh*t pisses me off to no end. This ratf*cker did what he wanted to do— pass an anti—LGBTQ law. He’s now whining about the “lack of dialogue” on the law. Whine, f*cker, whine. I am so steamed at his blatant dishonesty that it’s affecting my ability to type this. He claims it’s a “coordinated attack” intended to make him lose his bid for reelection. The truth is that he f*cked himself over.

Mr. McCrory used the word ‘Orwellian’ twice.” “You’ve got to be politically naïve if you think this is not coordinated by a very effective — a very effective — group,” he said.

He figured he’d have local support, maybe even does, until business suffers and job loss occurs. Then any support he had starts to evaporate. Investment in NC by large companies going away and reelection slips away.

It probably depends on how much people in the small towns of North Carolina resent the cities like Charlotte, Raleigh-Durham, and Asheville. Those larger cities are the ones bearing most of the costs of HB2, after all. Springsteen wasn’t going to play High Point.

The question is ‘who helps Trump, and would be willing to attach themselves (and implicitly endorse that piece of shit’.

I keep seeing people suggest Nikki Haley. Not a chance in hell. She’s one of the few bright spots in the GOP bench, there’s no way she’d attach herself to his clown car, and there’s no way the establishment would let her.

Plus, she’s already pretty much insulted Trump and his followers before the SC debate by pointing out that he’s a racist clownstick.

I think Ted is such a fucking grotesque self serving twisted Gollum of a human being that he might actually consider taking it if offered. The reason he might be disinclined isn’t personal animus, it’s that Trump is a long shot at best and nobody wants to be associated with a campaign that loses in an epic rout. Trump won’t offer it to him though because how can you nominate someone you’ve called a liar for months to be one step away from the Presidency?

The things is though that these two problems, his personal attacks combined with the likelihood of his heading a monstrously ugly campaign that ends in a failure of historic proportions, don’t just rule out Cruz but will be an obstacle in finding anyone both qualified and willing to accept the role. Trump’s campaign may well end up approaching several candidates they want as VP only to be told to fuck off, in those exact words.

Nobody turns down the VP offer. The downside is very low as rarely take any blame for failure and can probably carry on as a senator, while the plus side is considerable power, if you know how to wield it. Even LBJ was willing to give up his position as majority leader in the Senate for it, it’s that important.

re: #64 John Vreeland

Nobody turns down the VP offer.

Absolutely not true. McGovern had a hell of a time acquiring a running mate in ‘72.

When McGovern won the Democratic nomination for President, virtually all of the high-profile Democrats, including Senator Ted Kennedy, Senator Walter Mondale, former Vice-President Hubert Humphrey, Senator Edmund Muskie, Senator Abe Ribicoff.[31] and Senator Birch Bayh turned down offers to run on the ticket. McGovern had been convinced that Kennedy would join the ticket.

McGovern asked Senator Gaylord Nelson to be his running mate. Nelson declined but suggested (as had most of the others) Senator Tom Eagleton of Missouri, whom McGovern ultimately chose, with only a minimal background check.

In many other cases candidates for the job have preemptively made sure to take their names out of consideration.

Yet presidential candidates also receive rejections even when their prospects of success are more promising. Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller refused to run with Nixon in 1960 (and with Hubert H. Humphrey in 1968); Ford resisted Reagan’s entreaties in 1980; Bill Bradley, Bumpers, Sam Nunn and Tom Foley declined to be considered by Michael Dukakis in 1988; Mario Cuomo refused to be considered by Bill Clinton in 1992; and Richard Gephardt expressed credible disinterest in joining Al Gore’s ticket in 2000. Sen. Connie Mack, having been runner up in 1996, told Dick Cheney four years later that he would never speak to him again if placed on George W. Bush’s vetting list. Colin Powell declined to be considered three times, twice by ultimately successful candidates of each party, in 1992 (by Clinton), 1996 (by Dole) and 2000 (by Bush). Edward Kennedy declined twice (Humphrey in 1968, McGovern in 1972); McCain passed on the chance to run with John Kerry in 2004. To be sure, some of these refusals presented anomalous situations, like a cross-party ticket (Rockefeller, 1968; Powell, 1992; McCain, 2004) or Kennedy’s unique position. And in some cases, the decliner would not have been chosen. But on a number of occasions, the person who declined probably or surely would have been selected (Rockefeller, 1960; Kennedy, 1968, 1972; Ford, 1980; McCain, 2004).

—-===<<< clipped >>>===—-

“You’ve got to be politically naïve if you think this is not coordinated by a very effective — a very effective — group,” he said.
thenewcivilrightsmovement.com

Actually, he passed a local power-stripping law disguised as a bathroom police law (and tried to bill Charlotte for the special session).

The bill strips power from city councils and county boards to pass minimum wage hikes or protections against discrimination (including the disabled or veterans - or even disabled veterans). It prevents people from suing for discriminatory practices in state court (though he says he will reverse that - though no special session has been called for that).

If the bathroom police portion is struck down by the courts, the rest remains.

As for “outside agitators,” I thought these guys were all into the capitalistic free market? Gee how does that work? Oh right, I don’t want to spend my money in states that pas bigot laws.

Up to now, the Trump campaign has been the political version of movies like “Police Academy” or “Attack of the Killer Tomatoes”: when critics pan them for being pointless or juvenile, the critic-proof response has always been “That’s what they are supposed to be!”

But what works for the GOP nomination is going to backfire massively when they try to garner support from the rest of America.

For some reason they think if the convention is contested, their boy Cruz will get it. I think if the GOP is going to go for the PR nightmare of not giving it to Trump, they are going to nominate Kasich who polls best against Clinton. Also Redstate hates Kasich almost as much as Trump.

Remember this massive tool?

On April 17, 2016, Duterte was the subject of a controversy after he made a remark on a rape incident during a campaign event about a hostage-taking incident in Davao City which occurred years ago in 1989.[89] A group of 17 Australian missionaries where held captive by inmates in a jail where they were preaching at.[90] The incident ended in fatalities with 16 inmates dead and 5 missionaries including Jaqueline Hamill, 36, who was also raped.[91] According to Duterte’s remarks, when he saw Hamill’s corpse, he said:

“Was I mad because she was raped? Yes, that’s one of the reasons. But she really was beautiful. The mayor should have been first.”

I just looked, and his poll numbers went UP! World makes me sad.

So, it looks like Republicans are going to try to kill Tricare.

Under the plan, current users of Tricare Standard and Tricare Extra would fall into the newly minted Tricare Preferred plan. Users would continue to be permitted to self-refer to providers, but doing so would come with an annual enrollment fee of $100 for individuals and $200 for families starting in 2020.

New Tricare users would pay even greater fees. Active-duty family members would pay $300 for an individual or $600 for families to enroll each year, while future retirees who joined the service after 2020 would pay $425 for an individual or $850 for families.

New beneficiaries who want to use Prime can do so, but also at a cost. Active-duty families would pay $180 for an individual or $360 for a family, while retirees would pay $325 for an individual or $650 for a family. Current users would not pay to use Prime.

In order to make any sense of that 55-64% number we have to know what the turnout was compared to previous elections. The Trump voters are going to turn out. But those fed up with the shit salad they are being served may stay home. So the margins may be inflated and that 40% may be the same people that make up the 64%.

RBS

Morning!

RBS’s comment brings up something a friend and I have been discussing. We wonder if the Republicans really do not want the high office of president because then they would actually have to be totally responsible for getting stuff done.

By allowing the Democrats the position and them having control of congress they can lob bombs and bitch about the Democratic president and keep their base revved up and keep them in their seats in their drawn up districts.

This way they have power to get their way or block everything.

It sure does seem to be their tactic over the last few elections.

It is one big reason we have to kick their sorry butts out of congress to move to the real things that need to be done.

Those margins might seem “striking” to Mr Kristof, but shouldn’t some weight be given to the fact that Trump, in many/most earlier primaries, had more rivals on the ballot to split the opposition vote? That 40% was an adequate plurality to win a lot of the contests; now that he has only two other (unattractive) candidates to vie against, some boost in his margins could only be expected. Had they been properly armed, and sitting with their guns loaded, cocked and pointed at anyone behaving suspiciously, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!

I don’t get this idea that you’re going to prevent violence by forcing the Bible on people. You know who had the Bible on their mind all the time? The Crusaders. The Bible frankly is one of the most violent books ever written. I’m not saying it’s evil or anything like that but the Bible is filled with far more acts of violence than many things conservative Christians want to ban.

Argument leads to deadly shooting at Pennsylvania church

In world with no political correctness, murdering someone over an argument is a logical recourse.

Looks like it was a wingnut friendly church:

Keystone Fellowship announced a special guest pastor was scheduled to speak during its 11 a.m. service on Sunday about “serving in a country that is extremely hostile to the Christian faith.”

Last night as I was drifting off to sleep it occurred to me how odd it is how some Christian right-wingers will claim Islam isn’t a religion because of its political aspect, all while insisting that our Constitution is founded on the Bible.

It’s like wait—what? Doesn’t mixing politics with a religion invalidate said religion? Oh right, it only applies to certain religions, not ALL of them (and never ever the one the critic belongs to).

That’s a very good point. But yeah I love how they insist that Islam isn’t a real religion but a political ideology even though Muslims are very different throughout the world. And yeah these are the same people who insist not only our political system but our system of economics is directly inspired by the Bible.

Speaking of shootings. I heard on local Columbus news this morning the family of 8 killed in southern Ohio were shot a total of 32 times with one of the victims shot 9 times.

That is some mean hatred going on.

It also sounds like Ohio BCI has some evidence they are working with and the report said 8 items were of particular interest and were being worked on first.

Guns do make it easy. There’s no doubt about this at all. It’s why I have to laugh when I hear guns don’t kill people, people kill people, yeah and the gun makes it easier. Around the same time Lanza shot up Sandy Hook, there was a mass stabbing of students at a school in China and while that no doubt was tragic, none of the children there died. Can’t say the same about Sandy Hook.

The Keystone Fellowship was having a service about “serving in a country that is extremely hostile to the Christian faith.” Srsly? I live in the godless, liberal northeast and you can’t drive more then a couple of blocks without seeing a church.

A quick Google search tells me there are a bit over 300K Christian churches in the U.S. and as of 2014, 70.6% of the population was Christian. So let’s count the U.S. population as a flat 300 million (it was actually closer to 319 million in 2014). Let’s see, a flat 70% of 300,000,000 is… 210,000,000 Christians… divided by 300,000 churches… so one church for every 700 American Christians.

Gosh, I don’t know how they manage to endure all the hostility & persecution. //

The Who - Tattoo video

“Tattoo”

Me and my brother were talking to each other
‘Bout what makes a man a man
Was it brain or brawn, or the month you were born
We just couldn’t understand

Our old man didn’t like our appearance
He said that only women wear long hair

So me and my brother borrowed money from Mother
We knew what we had to do
We went downstairs, past the barber and gymnasium
And got our arms tattooed

Welcome to my life, tattoo
I’m a man now, thanks to you
I expect I’ll regret you
But the skin graft man won’t get you
You’l be there when I die
Tattoo

My dad beat me ‘cause mine said “Mother”
But my mother naturally liked it and beat my brother
‘Cause his tattoo was of a lady in the nude
And my mother thought that was extremely rude

Welcome to my life, tattoo
We’ve a long time together, me and you
I expect I’ll regret you
But the skin graft man won’t get you
You’ll be there when I die
Tattoo

Now I’m older, I’m tattooed all over
My wife is tattooed too
A rooty-toot-toot, rooty-tooty-toot-toot
Rooty-toot-toot tattoo too
To you

I’ve learned to mistrust populist campaigns. I don’t love corporations having tons of power. I really don’t but I don’t believe in simplifying reality either. Even if it’s only financial in motivation, I do appreciate that a large number of corporations have condemned Republican supported anti-LGBT legislation. I also know these companies employ a lot of people too and there are some genuinely good people who work for them. Honestly, the same is true for Wall Street and the banks even. That doesn’t mean they don’t require regulation. On the contrary, however, painting them as comic book style villains is something I don’t like either. Let’s treat people as people. .

Criminals are no doubt salivating over all the potential ways to exploit them, should they ever become a viable option.

Forgive me if I sound cynical, but after installing the WP security plugins I mentioned yesterday, it’s crystal clear1 that there are non-stop attempts to hack websites, especially those using popular software. I’m 100% convinced that self-driving cars would be attacked with similar gusto.

1. I’m currently looking at the audit logs for a site right now—mind you, its not an especially high traffic one either. Since midnight there have been 36 failed attempts to access the admin area, so on average roughly one attempt every 20 minutes or so.

True, Obama’s election did have historical implications. Honestly what I love that Obama and hopefully now Clinton will do in November is to tell large segments of the population that they too could be President. When Barack Obama was born in the early 60’s, Jim Crow was still very much a thing and Hillary Clinton came of age in a country that saw women’s place to be in the kitchen. These two like them or not are positive inspirations to millions of people who never were represented in the WH before.

re: #174 CuriousLurker

I don’t know how they manage to endure the hostility & persecution. //

My understanding is that this referred to a country other than the US.
Followup story:

The church earlier posted a notice on its Facebook page that appearing as a special guest speaker would be an unnamed “pastor serving in a country that is extremely hostile to the Christian faith.” The post said photos or videotaping would be forbidden “for our guest’s safety,” but Steele said the shooting appeared unrelated to any such speaker.

Maybe, maybe not. Given this buildup the shooter could well be someone who brought his gun because he thought the speaker might be in danger from the many unChristian assassins the fundies believe are lurking behind every rock these days.

Elsewhere, a Yelp reviewer denounces the Keystone staff for gay bashing, while another praises them for “Bible based scriptural teaching” so it is definitely a wingnut church.
As I mentioned yesterday, there is a huge, informal network of these churches all over the country. The thing that ties them together is their constant theme of an immediate existential threat to Christianity. They do not have a formal organization of course, many of them have no formal affiliation at all with other bodies. They do share media resources and, especially, guest speakers. Some of the craziest and most dishonest Islamophobes and gay bashers I have heard of seem to make a handsome living on this fundy speaker circuit.
The person I have mentioned (and mocked) several times for predicting that Muslims would institute “shahara law” once they were 3 % of the population got her “information” from a guest speaker at her fundy church.

Car makers have been putting stuff in for years, and I don’t think we’ve ever had a car do something the equivalent of blue-screening. Car companies require much better hardening than most consumers.

I think the simplest way to keep cars from being hacked is to make it so that software changes can only be done through a physical connection. Steering could also only required to be done locally: no outside system can tell the car to turn. To get it to turn, a hacker would have to get into all of the necessary sensors and have them feed false information to the central computer.

Capt. Kristen Griest, one of the first women to earn the coveted Ranger tab, will once again make history by becoming the Army’s first female infantry officer.

Griest is expected to graduate from the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course on Thursday and earn the right to wear the distinctive blue infantry cord, officials confirmed to Army Times.

IMO as an officer from the Military Police Corps she should be well equipped to make the transfer to Infantry.

re: #253 FormerDirtDart

My first trip to Afghanistan, I was seated on the plane next to a 1LT who had failed Ranger school 3 times (still had no tab). When I ran into him in the Korengal a couple of months later, he was looking pretty dejected. When I asked him what was the matter, he told me that his BN CDR had basically told him he’d never make it as an Infantry officer, because the sole thing that made Infantry officers special was that Ranger tab, and the shared experience it bestowed upon the individual. This LT was a USMA grad who majored in Arabic, and spoke passable Pashto…in Afghanistan. But a broken leg and lack of necessary recovery (so he could keep his slot in the school) apparently made him a ‘bad’ Infantry officer.

Having no personal wish to go to Ranger or Airborne school (I don’t need to lose weight or height THAT bad), I applaud CPT Griest and wish her well. But I don’t hold out hope, because the Maneuver community is incredibly myopic. Which is sad, because it’s apparently impossible to have significant impact on the direction of the Army without being a Maneuver branch officer, which until recently you couldn’t be if you had a vagina.

Is there any precedent for someone with absolutely no chance of securing a major party nomination naming a running mate?

We learned 4 years ago that Newt Gingrich naming people for his cabinet ahead of a single vote being cast was possibly illegal…how is what Cruz is going to do today significantly different?

There’s no way it wouldn’t be portrayed as anything other than him ducking Clinton. That’s not going to fly with his manly man supporters that are convinced Trump is the ur-manly man - if he’s ducking a girl. On top of that, there will be plenty of hay made of the fact there’s been at least one televised debate in every election since 1960, and radio debates before that.

And those fucking marionette hand movements.

Oh…he just said if China doesn’t cooperate with The Trump we can go our separate ways. Yeah, how does that work with the US debts they help carry?

Trump did get his ass kicked in Utah but that map was drawn by someone on bath salts.

The more likely result in a three person race involving Clinton-Trump-Sanders is that several blue states would go red because Sanders would pull many more votes from Clinton than he would from Trump. This isn’t Perot in ‘92 where he managed to pull votes fairly evenly from both parties, this is Nader in Florida circa 2000 writ large.

China owns about 8% of our national debt, mostly in treasury bills because the US dollar has become the world wide reserve currency. They won’t be selling our debt off any time soon (or attempting to collect on it). But a trade war where they decide to stop selling goods in the US or make it harder for US companies to make things in China to later be sold here? Goodbye iPhone 7 and Galaxy whatever…

I don’t think Sanders is dumb enough to think he’s got a chance in a three person race, so I don’t think he runs as an independent (realistically speaking, if you’re planning to run as an independent or third party candidate, you have to start that process almost as early as those running for the major party endorsements). But, if you’re a liberal/progressive/termdujour, then Sanders running and then staying in the race can move Hillary to the left and thereby likely move American politics to the left (I think her instincts are to be as centrist and risk adverse as possible, and given her experiences in the 90s that justifiable). Plus, non-incumbent nominees who face no real primary challenge tend to do less than good in the general election.

Shaun King’s last shred of respectability goes up in smoke because he thinks in a Trump v. Hillary (or Cruz v. Hillary) he can’t see the consequences of voting for the GOP?

Your core beliefs? You believe that the CRA and VRA should be enforced and voting rights secured for minorities? Which party is for them? Which party refuses to reauthorize the VRA? That’d be the GOP.

Easy decision Shaun. You’ve decided to side with the GOP over Hillary because your chosen candidate lost to Hillary in the Democratic primaries (and the DNC gets to set their own rules, so it isn’t disenfranchising or voter suppression when they hold closed primaries, but I digress).

Democrats are terribly uncool?! Really? They’ve been on the vanguard of expanding health care access to Americans, protecting civil rights, and fought for equal protection under the law for LBGT.

By ignoring all that, you’re casting your lot with the GOP. And you put your own rights in jeopardy as a result Shaun.

For those worried about younger people, this TPM article should help:

— Among 18 to 29 year olds, Clinton beats Trump 61% to 25% to 14% undecided

— In spring of 2015, this age group wanted the Democratic Party to win the next presidential election by 15 points (55% to 40%); a year later, that spread has increased to 28 points (61% to 32%)

— For the first time in five years, the number of self-identified Democrats is higher than self-identified independents (Dem 40%-Indy 36%-GOP 22%)

In Spring of 2015, this age group wanted the Democratic party to win the next presidential election by 15 points (55% to 40%). Now, a year later, that spread has increased to 28 points (61% to 32%). Notably, this is irrespective of candidates. It’s Democrat versus Republican. Also for the first time in 5 years the number of self-identified Democrats is higher than self-identified independents. Dem 40%; Indy 36%, GOP 22%.

For those worried about younger people, this TPM article should help:

h/t to Betty Cracker at Balloon Juice.

That should be a net of about 500 votes given the way they sit on their asses.

I think Clinton’s team has a pretty solid understanding of how to trash Trump (not that it’s hard), but I think they’re missing a strong undercurrent of humor.

You know, the Obama-should-have-patented-it: chuckle, sidegaze, headshake, FATALITY.

Better yet, Hillary can get Obama to stump for her.

His head goes back and forth side to side to read off the teleprompter. It is obvious he never prepared by reading this a few times or reading ahead to get a feel for spots he could look off and act naturally.

I am marveling at his laziness. He never bothered to practice his major foreign policy speech so someone could point out how to pronounce totalitarian and Tanzania. WTF??

I don’t see any way around one. I would be absolutely shocked if he weren’t crucified by the media for such a hypothetical action.

…I mean, they’ve got ad time to sell, right?

True, but losing access to Trump could hit their bottom line more.

Also, I lost!

I suspect what the comment is responding to is what would be a standard statement for a presidential candidate on the use of force: “I will only use force as a last resort.” Would you expect the opposite?
