I’ve always thought (well I’ve recently thought) the entire idea of a 24 hour news network isn’t a good idea, there just isn’t that much news that people actually care about going on. Why do you think Fox News needs people like Glenn Beck to fill time?

Some news from the heros at the front line…
3 RIFLES solider tackles live Taleban hand grenade
A soldier of 3 RIFLES has been talking about his decision to pick up a live Taleban hand grenade and throw it back in an attempt to save himself and his comrades.
Rifleman James McKie from Recce Platoon, 3rd Battalion The Rifles was under fire from three directions when the hand grenade hit his Platoon commander and landed at his feet.
“My first thought was I hope this doesn’t hurt too much” he said. “That, and I’ve really only got one chance to do this. If it fails, either way, doing nothing, I’m going to get the same amount of hurt. So I picked it up and threw it off the roof”.
The actions of Rifleman McKie helped to save the lives of his Commander and one other soldier who were engaging the enemy in a fire fight, from a compound roof, in the Sangin area of Helmand Province.
…Rifleman McKie sustained fragmentation injuries to his right arm and face as the grenade exploded mid air, close to where he stood.
Fragmentation also hit his Platoon Commander Captain Graeme Kerr who sustained injuries to his leg and who is recovering at Selly Oak Hospital in the UK.
…“In retrospect, people keep telling me how brave I am, which I’m slightly embarrassed about. I’d like to think that anyone in that situation would have done the same or something similar because you can’t just sit there and let yourself or other people get hurt. I don’t feel particularly brave. I thought: I have to do this to survive. Not just for myself but for the guys around me as well. I’m not expecting anything from them, I don’t want any thanks from them, I just don’t want them to get hurt.

France captures 35 ‘pirates’ in three days off the Somali coast
The French Navy has captured 35 suspected pirates in three days of operations off the coast of Somalia — the biggest haul in the two years since EU naval ships started patrolling the Gulf of Aden and Indian Ocean.
In operations over the weekend the Nivose, a French frigate, seized four mother ships and six skiffs. In one raid on Sunday, French and EU forces used helicopters and fired warning shots to stop and capture a mother ship and two accompanying vessels.
The prisoners are expected to be flown to Kenya, which is already prosecuting about 100 pirates on behalf of Western nations with forces in the area.
French naval commanders praised the action by the Nivose. “The pirates are learning that we are not a soft touch,” said a spokesman in Paris.

Apologies if this has already been discussed (multi-tasking here)
Limbaugh vows to flee the country if health care passes.
Hate radio host Rush Limbaugh has been one of health care reform’s most vociferous opponents, warning that “[h]uman beings will die earlier than normal” under the “freedom killing” and “life threatening” plan, and calling for it to be “aborted.” Yesterday, Limbaugh put his money where his mouth is, saying that if health care passes and all his fears are realized, he’ll leave the country:
CALLER: If the health care bill passes, where would you go for health care yourself? And the second part of that is, what would happen to the doctors, do they have to participate in the federal program, or could they opt out of it? […]
LIMBAUGH: My guess in even in Canada and even in the UK, doctors have opted out. And once they’ve opted, they can’t see anybody Medicare, Medicaid, or what will become the exchanges. They have to have a clientele of private patients that will pay them a retainer and it’ll be a very small practice. I don’t know if that’s been outlawed in the Senate bill. I don’t know. I’ll just tell you this, if this passes and it’s five years from now and all that stuff gets implemented — I am leaving the country. I’ll go to Costa Rica.

Part of me is truly sad that our nations first Black President is not doing so well. I honestly wanted him to succeed. He deserved better, America deserved better. Those around him have failed. Congress has failed.
What a wasted opportunity.

Pfft. The guy’s been in office for one year.
Lots of folks — including me, BTW — wrote George W. Bush off as a lightweight one-term president during the whole Enron debacle. He ended up serving two terms. Others wrote Clinton off after the failure of health care and losing Congress in 1994, but he went on to get re-elected as well.
Writing any President off so soon is ridiculous.

We had to do a 6 minute speech to graduate about our trade from Nuke College in this big auditorium.. You get all this high ranking Navy officers and College teachers and students to try your soul in one place at one time.. Who the fuck are you?
Everybody did a speech on what they learned over 4 years..I wanna be the best Nuclear Engineer or pipe fitter the Navy ever trained..Blah Blah fucking Blah….
I walked up on stage and read stories about the bravery of Naval Ship workers during the Attack of Pearl Harbor.. 4 straight minutes of the stories.. I told on stage with passion… Then I stopped..
This is why I want to be a Naval Nuclear Code 99 worker… I looked up and in the front row there wasn’t a dry eye.. I went..Oh Fuck! I’m going to lose it! Oh Gawd no! Did my best Glenn Beck.. Choked back the Tears..Finished why I was privileged to work for the Navy..Walked off and thought to myself.. Better yet. Let’s harken back to the 2008 Republican Platform.
Now let’s look at their little blurb regarding internet gambling:
Internet Gambling
Millions of Americans suffer from problem or pathological gambling that can destroy families. We support the law prohibiting gambling over the Internet.
Now let’s isolate the first sentence:
Millions of Americans suffer from problem or pathological gambling that can destroy families.
Thus we can say that in 2008, the Republican Party held a position that stated that “millions of Americans suffer from problem or pathological gambling that can destroy families.” That would include Las Vegas by default both on principle and a technicality.
In fact, they’re right. So was Obama.

Yes, I am. Here’s some more from the GOP:
What Steve Beshear Won’t Tell You About Casino Gambling…The following is the next installment in a series exploring the social and economic issues relating to casino gambling and its potential impact on Kentucky’s communities and families. All too often, the addictive amusement of casino gambling results in high unemployment and increased crime. Governor Ernie Fletcher has voiced his clear opposition to casino gambling in Kentucky while his opponent Steve Beshear has built his campaign around the issue. Today, we will investigate what Steve Beshear doesn’t want you to know about…
SNIP
A National Council on Problem Gambling study illustrates that gambling addiction, not including problem gamblers, is twice as prevalent among Americans as cancer. A Gambling Impact and Behavior Study by the University of Chicago indicates that 20% of problem gamblers file for bankruptcy, while the same study also cites that 25-30% of problem gamblers file for divorce.
In Nevada, the mecca of casino culture in the United States, that state leads the nation in divorce, high school dropouts, motor vehicle theft, and prostitution. It is also #2 in robberies, #3 in murder, suicide, and the number of abortions; all the while being #45 in voter participation.
In the coming days, stay tuned to find out more about what Steve Beshear doesn’t want you to know about casino gambling…
This was a campaign against Steve Behear who is a Democrat. The text it GOP approved.

Here’s one for the C-Street GOP. It’s from Focus on the Family. Blue ribbon GOP group.
Legalized gambling is one of the fastest growing markets in the United States. In 2006, the gross revenues from all forms of gambling totaled nearly $91 billion - more money than Americans spent on movie tickets, theme parks, spectator sports and videogames combined!
Gambling has attained unprecedented levels of acceptance, glamorzation, and popularity in the United States. Once confined to the remote desert region of Nevada, gambling, in one form or another, is now legal in 48 of the 50 states. Utah and Hawaii remain the only exceptions.
Citizens throughout the United States are beginning to see the trail of devastation gambling leaves in its wake.

Poor Americans can always be relied on by the rich in one very important regard. They will reliably oppose higher taxes on billionaires.
Because part of the American religion is the firm belief that though you may live in a trailer park that’s about to be declared a Superfund site, with no teeth, no dentures, no eyesight, no glasses, no health care but plenty of health problems, no job and no clean water and no wholesome food and no decent public transportation and nobody even coming to take your info for the census, you will wake up tomorrow and be a billionaire.
And then you sure as heck wouldn’t want to pay higher taxes to help your wretched neighbors.

Because if you don’t have drying and aging sheds, it rots like lettuce.
Can’t be worse than liquor. You can buy dehydrators, for herbs and jerky, anywhere. To make booze, you have to mix it, let it rot, distill it (optional) and bottle it. People grow something similar, and more illegal, all the time.

Low high end marginal tax rates are only 29 years old:

Commercial paper is still tight putting all but the positive cash flow projects in limbo. The money just isn’t flowing and the real estate developers are looking elsewhere or holding cash. To some extent this could be helping buoy the markets as some of that money ends up there.
The risk is that a weakening of the real estate market could push a rash of commercial defaults as the values weaken below the loans.

Five People to Blame for Poker Prohibition
by Carson Cashman %P% February 15, 2010
Shortly before the mid-term elections in 2006, the US Congress voted on the SAFE Port Act, a piece of legislation designed to provide security measures for busy American ports. However, some crafty politicians attached the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) to the bill shortly before the vote was cast. The resulting legislation made it illegal for banks to process online gambling payments. If you have ever tried to play poker online only to have your payment denied, these people are to blame.

Harry Reid was outraged.
Regardless, embattled Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid took offense.
“The President needs to lay off Las Vegas and stop making it the poster child for where people shouldn’t be spending their money,” Reid said in a statement. “I would much rather tourists and business travelers spend their money in Las Vegas than spend it overseas.
Nevada Congresswoman Shelley Berkeley concurred with Reid although to illustrate her level of ire, she threw in an exclamation point.
“Enough is enough!” Berkeley said in a statement. “President Obama needs to stop picking on Las Vegas and he needs to let Americans decide for themselves how and where to spend their hard-earned vacation dollars.”

When it comes to gambling there are four factions - they are trying to limit each other’s market share. Theres’ the “no gambling” faction, the Indian Gambling faction, the Legalized States Gaming interests, and there are the offshore interests. All four factions grease both sides of the wheel, and some also rally some of the wingnut factions to arms when they want to beat down one of the other interest lobbies. (e.g. Indian Gaming Abramoff / Reed,; Legal Gambling, Reid are examples of two competing factions)

Right. Opposing internet gambling would be beneficial to the casino house. Which of course are now dispersed throughout the United States. So there are as you state opposing sides that battle each other on secular (since I brought up the moral objection by way of Focus on the Family) for or financial reasons. Inidan gaming of course means that people no longer have to travel from New Mexico to Las Vegas, etc. So that was a loss for Vegas.

Nothing to do with dead cats…
“Quantum entanglement, also called the quantum non-local connection, is a property of a quantum mechanical state of a system of two or more objects in which the quantum states of the constituting objects are linked together so that one object can no longer be adequately described without full mention of its counterpart—even if the individual objects are spatially separated in a spacelike manner.”
That’s our “connection” between the timelines. Think 2007 timeline Island Jack is entangled with 2004 Post-815 timeline Jack.

True, but Indian Gambling doesn’t actually hurt Vegas all that much. People who develop a taste of gambling still go to Vegas because its “the big leagues” of gambling. In a way, it can actually help Vegas by getting people started.

I jumped to soon, yes, cats, Bell, quantum entanglement… and I will take this one step further. The producers have always mentioned that episode one, season one had a major clue. The show opened with a shot of Jack’s eye… observation… as in ” for a given observable quality of the particle, all outcomes remain a possibility and only measurement itself would precipitate a distinct value.”
Right now, we are still in that “state.” All outcomes remain a possibility until all their “souls” are measured.

These new Progressive glasses are somewhat hard to adjust to. But I can already tell it’s going to be worth the effort.
First off, everything that was murky now looks plain as day. My mind is clearer now.
I’m feeling compassion for people I used to ignore. Just gave Crazy Mike the Schizo Bum a five-spot. And some advice. Told him to start shaving again because in the business he’s in, a big lumberjack beard is not conducive to profits.
The glasses also have “transitions”, meaning they go from clear to dark in bright light. So when a nuclear burst of lies about how higher tax rates on billionaires like Limbaugh is going to ruin the country appears, I am protected from sudden blindness.
As a non-political bonus, spring is almost here and the Hopkins girls are coming out of hibernation and wearing skimpier clothing by the day. What was a blur now resolves itself into a curvaceous derriere, or even a nipple.

A lot of times it depends where you put your neck on the pair. If she is taller than you, than it’s not much of a problem, but, if she is really shorter than you, you will probably not align properly and that’s when putting you neck on the pair can be a strain.

You need to figure out whether it’s from looking far, or looking close - that might help you on how high or low to set the start. I don’t think line bifocals will help if you get that line in the wrong place and end up straining your neck w / them as well. Just a thought. If you talk to the place you got yours, they might redo them for ya if you tell them you are getting neck strain etc.

And then there’s Alexander Cockburn*, who, when not equating Israelis with Nazis, is a full on AGW-denier.
A bridge too far.
*pronounced, I’m told, “Coburn”, but I prefer to enunciate the “ck” for emphasis

Or presumably, not gefilted.
I’m planning on using the frozen rolls of gefilte fish this Pesach, so easy to prepare, even Zedushka can do it.
On the other hand, if I get out my old wooden bowl and the half-moon hockmesser and make my own fish, that would really impress my daughters-in-law!
The only non-Ashkenazi I know who will eat gefilte fish willingly is my father, and he mostly uses it as a transportation system for heaping amounts of purple-dyed khrain.

Fitting as well.

No neck strain, I really only neely only need them for driving, movies and very small print. They end-up on top of my head most of the time. I don’t like that I can’t look to the side without turning my head. If I am reading and want to check on the animal or the child, I can’t do so without turning my head. A head turn usually provokes a response I don’t want.
Like, “Mom, wht do you want?” “Oh nothing” “Then why were you looking at me.” “Because it’s my job.” And that is 3 minutes out of BS I could have avoided. It can be worse with the dogs.

Oddly enough last night I remembered about 4 years ago I became unhinged about something and going on this slight anti-gay rant at a friend of my then ex-girlfriend. I think I did it because I was harboring some ill feelings about our break-up. Only did that once. I still maintained my social liberalism. When I came to LGF in 2008 I didn’t really talk about social issues much even when it seemed like there was a lot of so-cons about. Not that many mind you.
I was more of a Hot Air guy back then. Used to like reading Allahpundit. Would always be looking into LGF and also waiting for open registration. Posted here and there on various right wing sites. His style of campaigning was religious-like? That would be quite a shock to the number of conservative pols who openly channel God’s will and word (according to Republican Jesus) in their speeches. The way some people fawn over him is just as much a creation of the right as it is the truth. Last, making an assumption on the success of a presidency 6 months into the (first?) term is prophesying even more than Obama promised, imo.
More importantly, pulling back a little, the language of false prophets and such plays into the stupid anti-christ, “the end times started when Obama was elected,” “can anyone save us?” BS that I can’t stomach and do consider crazy.

A bit over the top, there, DF. Obama’s agenda has been stalled by D’s, by and large, rather than R’s. And it is because of fear of doing the right thing versus lobbyist threats to potential opponents in their next election cycle and special interest dollars to those R’s.

It’s not only money now, though it was at one time. Right now, there is a good bit of opposition to much of Obama’s agenda. Many Congresscritters are going to want to take an anti-Washington tone and mount the populist bandwagon. Heck, with his attacks on Health Insurance companies (not saying that they are justified or unjustified, only that they are attacks) he’s using the populist game plan himself.

It’s a pattern. I noticed that with Americans we’ll have a Republican administration for 4 years or so and when things don’t go as planned (or promised) they suddenly begin to criticize Republicans and then switch over to Democrats. Then we’ll have a Democratic administration for four years or… you get the picture. It’s a cycle which works with majorities. Then if we try to blame both parties what do we see? Big “L” libertarians, The Green Party, and now the Tea Party.

To be fair: Jon Voight’s views are not crazy. He’s not outside the mainstream, whereas Sean Penn clearly is.
What the? Jon Voight is is a closet racist douche bag who brings up race where it is completely irrelevant just to show he’s not a racist:
Sen. Barack Obama has grown up with the teaching of very angry, militant white and black people: the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, William Ayers and Rev. Michael Pfleger. We cannot say we are not affected by teachers who are militant and angry. We know too well that we become like them, and Mr. Obama will run this country in their mindset.
So yeah, Jon Voight is “outside the mainstream,” and fuck him right in his real purdy mouth. Sean Penn may also be a self important douche bag, but at least his heart is in the right place, and sure he made a complete goddamned joke out of it but let’s remember that he did actually rescue some people after Hurricane Katrina, as fucked up as that is.

Yeah, it all goes around and around. It’s a big juggling act. As long as all the balls stay in the air, we’ll be okay. I guess is how it works.
The problem, IMHO, is that far too many people seem to not have digested the mind-boggling simple fact that WE are in charge, not the people we elect to government.

Well, they certainly have a lot more middle class money now. Not so much from the top 2%. As marginal top tax raises have dropped, payroll taxes on the middle class have increased tremendously.
Question:
Why are are Social Security taxes (and the business contribution) capped at salaries above $106,800?
I mean, really, a worker (and his business owner) pay a split total of 12.4%.
But Mr. Banker, who makes $1.2 million per year in salary, pays the same Social Security tax as a GP in a rural community making $106,800?
Really?
That sucks.

Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues AgainOh, the ragman draws circles
Up and down the block
I’d ask him what the matter was
But I know that he don’t talk
And the ladies treat me kindly
And furnish me with tape
But deep inside my heart
I know I can’t escape
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againWell, Shakespeare, he’s in the alley
With his pointed shoes and his bells
Speaking to some French girl
Who says she knows me well
And I would send a message
To find out if she’s talked
But the post office has been stolen
And the mailbox is locked
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againMona tried to tell me
To stay away from the train line
She said that all the railroad men
Just drink up your blood like wine
An’ I said, “Oh, I didn’t know that
But then again, there’s only one I’ve met
An’ he just smoked my eyelids
An’ punched my cigarette”
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againGrandpa died last week
And now he’s buried in the rocks
But everybody still talks about
How badly they were shocked
But me, I expected it to happen
I knew he’d lost control
When he built a fire on Main Street
And shot it full of holes
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againNow the senator came down here
Showing ev’ryone his gun
Handing out free tickets
To the wedding of his son
An’ me, I nearly got busted
An’ wouldn’t it be my luck
To get caught without a ticket
And be discovered beneath a truck
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againNow the preacher looked so baffled
When I asked him why he dressed
With twenty pounds of headlines
Stapled to his chest
But he cursed me when I proved it to him
Then I whispered, “Not even you can hide
You see, you’re just like me
I hope you’re satisfied”
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againNow the rainman gave me two cures
Then he said, “Jump right in”
The one was Texas medicine
The other was just railroad gin
An’ like a fool I mixed them
An’ it strangled up my mind
An’ now people just get uglier
An’ I have no sense of time
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againWhen Ruthie says come see her
In her honky-tonk lagoon
Where I can watch her waltz for free
’Neath her Panamanian moon
An’ I say, “Aw come on now
You must know about my debutante”
An’ she says, “Your debutante just knows what you need
But I know what you want”
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile
With the Memphis blues againNow the bricks lay on Grand Street
Where the neon madmen climb
They all fall there so perfectly
It all seems so well timed
An’ here I sit so patiently
Waiting to find out what price
You have to pay to get out of
Going through all these things twice
Oh, Mama, can this really be the end
To be stuck inside of Mobile

A lesser-known Dylan song. (Warning: Prog content, NSFF (not safe for fascists)).
Lyrics:
Far between sundown’s finish an’ midnight’s broken toll
We ducked inside the doorways, thunder went crashing
As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds
Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashingFlashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight
Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight
And for each and every underdog soldier in the night
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashingThrough the city’s melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched
With faces hidden as the walls were tightening
As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin’ rain
Dissolved into the bells of the lightningTolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake
Tolling for the luckless, the abandoned and forsaken
Tolling for the outcast burnin’ constantly at stake
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashingThrough the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail
The sky cracked its poems in naked wonder
That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze
Leaving only bells of lightning and its thunderStriking for the gentle, striking for the kind
Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind
And the poet and the painter far behind his rightful time
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashingIn the wild cathedral evening the rain unraveled tales
For the disrobed faceless forms of no position
Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts
All down in taken for granted situationsTolling for the deaf and blind, tolling for the mute
For the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute
For the misdemeanor outlaw chained and cheated by pursuit
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashingEven though a cloud’s white curtain in a far-off corner flashed
And the hypnotic splattered mist was slowly lifting
Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones
Condemned to drift or else be kept from driftingTolling for the searching ones on their speechless seeking trail
For the lonesome hearted lovers with too personal a tale
And for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashingStarry-eyed and laughing, as I recall when we were caught
Trapped by no track of hours for they hang suspended
As we listened one last time and we watched with one last look
Spellbound and swallowed till the tolling endedTolling for the aching whose wounds cannot be nursed
For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones and worse
And for every hung up person in the whole wide universe
And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing
Now someone come along and tell me he doesn’t do honor to his Welsh namesake. I’se in a fightin’ mood.

Saw this flash by in spy. We used to call that false association. We have a large number of the underclass that falsely associate themselves with the ruling or wealthy class thinking that some day “they might strike it rich.” Even when that line of thinking goes against their own self interest. Not only will you see them defending a class they will never be accepted in but they also defend corporations such as banks and health insurance companies that work against the interests of the underclass.

Did he? Oddly enough Tancredo went to one as well. Fact is they should have all gone and been engaged. They need to wake the fuck up.

Thank you.
Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Woody Allen, Kurt Vonnegut and Mark Twain can teach you more about America in an afternoon than four years’ study of Poli Sci.
Or listen to Bob Marley:

I especially liked the :
as it follows several traditional poetic methods, even from ancient times, like the Genesis 1 object:fill-object pairings.
There’s one thing Rush and I can agree on. Talent is on loan from God.
I try to use whatever I have to excoriate and flay hypocrites and lascivious Vestal Virgins.
Rush? He uses his to pander and whore for money.
Any day now, any day now, I shall be vindicated.

I dunno about that. I see way too many missteps. The one that peeved me the most was when he recently made comments about evil greedy capitalist companies going to Las Vegas to party. What happened next? Hotel and convention bookings DRIED UP.
Thanks for guaranteeing Harry Reed gets voted out!
Contrast that to right after 9/11 and the country really truly looked to be in deep shit. Not one airplane in the air. Not one. And Bush told everyone to relax, go spend some money and lets show these assholes what we’re made of.
Confidence.
And now contrast the Obama statement you’re referencing, which was reasonable but politically unwise, with a real, consequential verbal blunder:
“That’s how the President speaks,” a White House spokesman told the New York Times last week, in a somewhat lame attempt to explain why George W. Bush hadn’t meant what he’d said about North Korea. Asked to explain his rejection of South Korean president Kim Dae Jung’s recommendation that Washington urgently pursue President Clinton’s efforts to negotiate an end to North Korea’s missile program, Bush told reporters, “We’re not certain as to whether or not they’re keeping all terms of all agreements.”That, of course, was a potentially catastrophic gaffe by a president whose problems in choosing the words that best convey his ideas can prove to be a killer liability in international diplomacy, where a leader’s every word is parsed for nuance by friend and foe. For the record, the U.S. has only one agreement with North Korea — the 1994 accord to stop the production of weapons-grade nuclear fuel in exchange for assistance by Japan, South Korea and the U.S. in developing alternative energy sources (including a series of lower-grade nuclear reactors). And as U.S. officials hurried to emphasize immediately after Bush’s statement, Washington has no evidence that North Korea is not complying with the terms of that agreement. Given the epic paranoia and unpredictability of the regime in Pyongyang, the last thing you want to do is accuse them of cheating — unless you’re consciously setting out to take it to the next level.
So it was that the press flacks tried to explain the remark as a reference to Bush’s concerns about any future deals with North Korea, even though he used the present tense. Hence the “that’s how the President speaks” remark, implying that he characteristically uses the present tense to refer to the future — a formula in which “I’ll do it now” presumably means the same thing as “It can wait till tomorrow.”

For the sake of reference, here’s the Obama quote:
Responsible families don’t do their budgets the way the federal government does. Right? When times are tough, you tighten your belts. You don’t blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you’re trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices. It’s time your government did the same.

Rush Limbaugh is proof that in America you can still be a completely blithering ignorant idiot and still be a successful idiot. That’s typically the defense for his kind — that “they make a lot of money.”
He deserves no mercy.

Flay hypocrites and lascivious vestal virgins… How poetic ;)
I just excoriate them as the blind assholes they are.
Admit it, after reason is rejected, it simply feels good to beat some sense into the fools and jack asses. They won’t change. You can not reason with those who have rejected reason itself, but you can let them know that they are not special snowflakes and that no, their BS is not beloved by everyone.

Hell you make a point… I should not say that the GOP is completely discriminatory… They keep running the special needs kids.

Right. lol
Yeah, and they have Michael “I’m Sorry Rush” Steele on board. In case of emergency break glass. I read a funny blog post about how the GOP uses a few African-Americans they have on board that they use “in case of an emergency.”

Now here I must quibble with your august style. I am certain that with the aid of my trusty thesaurus, I can remind my self of many crunchy words for urination and the vacation of other bodily wastes. I could write prolix polemics full of alliterative allusions to effluvium.
However, these folks are well folksy… when you use such language their eyes water. And fuck you, that pun was brilliant!
Just say something direct, earthy and full of perk… they respond to that.
Consider, saying something like desperate attempts to gain popularity with the other cave folks is no longer cool.
